Dudley and I shared a cozy sunday at home today....
Dudley and I shared a cozy sunday at home today. We cuddled on the sofa, went out in the garden for some fresh air. We had a date to watch the mens tennis final but, alas, it was rained out. Never mind, we had a lovely time. Dudley? Oh, he is Alexis little Poodle. Continue reading

Oma and India went to the Diner for ice cream and strawberries with whipped cream. On the way out India takes a lollipop. She announces that this is a mystery lollipop, and, sitting in her booster seat in the back of the car she begins to tell an elaborate story about the mystery lollipip. I notice that every time she sais the word mystery she follows it with; da da da daaaaa. When I ask her about it she sais:" It's a mystery, so it needs a theme song!" Of course. Continue reading

Hi there, sorry it's been so long since I last wrote. I've been a little proccupied... healthstuff. Not so interesting, excepts that I will be sporting a new hip in July. If you have gotten a replacement, I would appreciate if you let me know what I can expect. Julia and David have bought a house not five minutes walking distance from here..for those who can walk. I will have my five grandchildren right near me. I know, I'm very lucky! Continue reading

tic tac toe
India, age4, loves to play tic tac toe on her placemat at the diner. She hands me a green crayon, she takes a red one for herself, and tells me that I will be the X. I'm getting ready to place my mark, but India stops me. She says, "Oma ( pregnant pause ), I will tell you where to put your X !" India puts her 0 in the center of the grid, and shows me where my X should go. And so it goes, back and forth. India stretches her little arms up in the air, and shouts... Continue reading

Be careful what you wish for......
Let me explain why I haven't blogged in a while. When I was a child, I was always very healthy. I had rosy cheeks, and plenty of energy. My poor sister, on the other hand, was often pale. She often suffered from headaches, and she often felt poorly. Of course I felt that she was getting much more attention from our parents. Ah, I just wanted to be pale! I wanted to look as though I were suffering. Do you remember Heidi's friend Clara? The poor thing was fading. I always pictured her draped on a divan, suffering. I tried... Continue reading

Wow! I'm going to have to come visit Maine--I never find anything that good around here!
wanderings
Among some of my favorite moments in life are surely those in which a few hours are 'lost' wandering through aisles of 'stuff' with dear friends. Literal and figurative. Treasures and Treasured.

Happy Heart Day
After a 24 hour visit to the hospital this past Thursday night, Alexis picked me up to take me home. She gave me a book that I had asked her to order for me, and said: "Good thing you didn't die. I would have felt so bad when the book arrived in the mail today!" Where could she possibly have gotten that sense of humor? Happy Valentine's Day! Continue reading

Thank you very much for your comment! I hope you will have a great time in your new appartment.
What a difference a year makes....
On the evening of last years superbowl, I almost died. Not figuratively speaking. Literally. I had had major surgery, and everything had gone very well, but not long after I woke up, I felt that something was not right. I was excessively thirsty, and, over the course of the next day,...
