I love this place. Savannah, Georgia. There is something about this city that makes me melt. My husband & I have 3 beautiful children, ages 5, 4 & 2. Time alone, the kind of time to just be together comes few & far between for us. We stay stuck in mommy/daddy mode a lot, it's hard to break. He comes home at the end of the day, tired from a job he doesn't love but works so hard at because he loves us. & I am normally at the end of my rope as if my patience has been put through a taffy puller all day, toddlers tend to do that. Twice a month they visit their grandparents on the weekend & we get a small respite. Usually spent deep cleaning the house, resting achy bodies, catching up on hours of missed sleep & reconnecting as much as possible. All year long we smile through the stress of the day to day, enjoy our children & each other, laugh through the madness that is our lives at times. During the year we usually don't have the time or the money most often to celebrate each others birthdays, holidays even our anniversary. We'd rather do more for our children than something for ourselves. We say I love you in other ways. He plants a tree for me in the yard, I cook his favorite meals, little things like that. But once a year, usually on Valentine's weekend, we go away together, just the two of us. 2 night or 3 nights or even 5 like our upcoming trip, just to be alone together. It makes all the difference in the world for us. & this city is where we go. Just saying the name brings a smile to our faces. This city is rich. Rich with culture & history, natural beauty & man made monuments. Diversity & unity, all in one. Slick cobblestone streets made from old river rocks carried in from port. Gardens in the squares blooming with roses & hydrangea's. Little antique benches & big crooked oaks draped in Spanish moss. Historic homes, from times our eyes have not seen that hold secrets we will never know. I love this city, we love this city & we will love with each other in it, in our place.
