Did You Know Washington DC Has a Professional Soccer Team?
On Moreno's last game. For those of you who read me for soccer only - who hate the politics, hate the other stuff - and who've bookmarked or blogrolled or readered me at the DCU category level, I've moved HERE... Continue reading

Their Sons Grow Suicidally Beautiful at the Beginning of October, and Gallop Terribly Against Each Other's Bodies
I'm amused and fascinated by the firestorm in the NFL over players, who are taught from pee-wee to high school to college to the pros that spectacular hits are the road to getting paid, suddenly being told they can't do... Continue reading

Green KnowsThat This Other Cat Is an Hallucination
Somebody named Graham E. Fuller in his new book (which I saw on the new book shelf, held in my hands last week for the seconds it took to read the cover, back, and inside-flaps then put it down), A... Continue reading

The Man and Camel Ceased to Sing
We saw Connecticut College in bright daylight, not dismal downpour like the first time last Spring. It's a beautiful, compact campus. Planet has a friend who's a freshman, so she took a student's eye tour with him while Earthgirl and... Continue reading

I and My Life Will Shut Very Beautifully
I'm three years away from being out from under a mortgage barring complete reaming by the coming mortgage clusterfuck, but I'm about to go half-a-mortgage under soon when Planet picks an elitist Liberal Arts school, one of which might be... Continue reading

Consider the Abundance of Such Resource as Illuminates the Glow-Blue Bodies and Gold-Skeined Wings of Flies Swarming the Dumped Guts of a Natural Slaughter
I hadn't given Axelrod's statement that he was "hoping that with more seats, the Republicans will feel a greater sense of responsibility to work with us to solve some of these problems," much thought, dismissing it as his obamalamely attempt... Continue reading

Thanks JRB for both Kind words and actions.
I've very interested if you like JR. It's now #3 on my next read list with a bullet. Not suggesting a reading club, mind. But if you like it you'll love it cause it gets better through the rotations, and you'll know early whether you like it or not.
Lucky for Us They Don't Know What They're Doing, These Puny Anonymous Creatures of Dark and Damp Who Eat Simply to Live, with No More Sense of Mission Than Nature Feels in Providing for Our Survival
Alright, I think I've successfully blogrolled everyone at THE NEW PLACE who is still alive and who was on the blogroll at the this old place. If you don't see yourself at THE NEW PLACE in the right-hand column under BECAUSE you're in the left-hand column BECAUSE because it makes things easier ...

Volitionless, from Different Heights, and in the One Direction
Well, here's yesterday's obamapostasy. Today's Columbus Day, so it might not be until tomorrow Obama scolds me for my shallow fealty and selfishness, my blindness at his obamawesomeness, my traitorously irresponsible threats to not vote this cycle. Speaking of threats:... Continue reading

I love everything from Rubber Soul on - it's the basis of what music taste I have - I've just heard them so many times they're imprinted on my brain for easy retrieval.
I dig Built to Spill - I think they were in the 30's of that silly-ass poll; I'll publish a link to the whole poll if and when KEXP puts in on their blog.
Born Seventy Years Ago Today
If I can't remember the last time I played any Beatle albums except for side one of Yellow Submarine (though to be honest, it's George's great two songs that bring me back over and over) and side four of the White Album it's because I can retrieve any Beatle's song I w...

I see Hughes' poems often in the places I visit both physical and virtual and I try again and again - a dear friend and excellent poetry reader *loves* Hughes, so I'm sure it's my lack, not Hughes'. My theory is his rhythms don't work for me more than the language or content doesn't work for me.
I downloaded blooger a couple of months ago, the previous time motherfucking typepad pissed me off, but haven't poked around. I'll look and see if it sucks less, then decide, if yes, whether it's worth the hassle of uprooting not only me but all of the dozens of Kind people who follow this shitty blog.

Urban legend has it that binoculars are trained on the Linden Lane bridge 24/7/365, and elite teams of Mormon rangers are dispatched to rip that sign down within minutes of its being sighted.
He Seems Torn Between Tearing Out a Sinner's Bowels and Bestowing Eyeballs on the Eyeball-Less
Hah! Stereolab was #164 Kate Bush was #165 and Peter Gabriel was #166 in KEXP's stupid-ass voter countdown of the "greatest artists of all time" as a gimmick for their Fall 2010 Drive (which, fuck it, give to), and I had nothing to do with it, I didn't vote! Hah! The odds they'd be in a row!...
Heh, pretty good for a hillbilly.
Weather's supposed to be perfect for Saturday night. No Boskovic (int'l), no Najar (yellows), no Jakovic (int'l), but plenty of Morsink. See you there.
