Why don't I like the phrase tropical design? Maybe because it conjures up images of dark and heavily carved wood furniture and too many palm leaves. What I'm hoping to pull together instead is an updated take on a timeless look. Continue reading

Our entry consists of a single door with sidelights and the sidelights are not wide. So, the conundrum is will painting the surrounding trim dark, like the door make the door look more substantial or will it just look over powering and odd? Continue reading

We wanted low maintenance surfaces for this project and so I chose a matte finish granite, called New Caldonia, for our outdoor kitchen countertops. The best thing about this leather finish is that it doesn't show spots, fingerprints, or dust. LOVE. THEM. Continue reading
