Thank you Mary O'Connor, I'm so glad you stopped by. I am now @ www.becolorfulcoastal I hope you will stop by and see me there. How fun would it be to have a follower from Ireland? Visiting your beautiful country is definitely on my bucket list. And I would love to see that radiogram. Leave a picture on the facebook page or as a comment at the updated blog. Have a great weekend. Pamela

What did we do without the internet? I found this metal frame at Wayfair and we were able to create our own DIY stylish industrial vanity for a fraction of what the one from the custom cabinet vendor was going to charge us. Continue reading

The bathroom in our new-to-us downsizing house will have a smaller bathroom than we have had in the past twenty years. I'm okay with the compact space, but the lighting was more of a struggle than I counted on. Follow... Continue reading

While I absolutely love this look, I am wondering if it was the best choice for a small bathroom. The vanity is a double sink cabinet but it isn't overly generous. Everything here is efficiently compact...I am thinking I need to keep the pendant lighting not much wider than 10". Continue reading

Image emerald green ceiling. This design plan will take a bit of convincing on my part. Neither my husband nor the contractor are on board yet with my vision. Continue reading

For the first time in my life, I understood what it is to leave a house and everything in it behind, but it was time to leave. We didn't know what we would come back to, but we said a prayer and put our home in His hands. Continue reading

Lately, I've been looking at lighting, lots of lighting. I need bathroom lighting, kitchen lighting, exterior lighting, chandeliers and now, my latest hunt has been for hallway lighting. Continue reading

This isn't sexy. We are at that unsettling stage of the remodeling process where everything just looks dilapidated and depressing. It is hard to imagine it will ever pull together, even though we know it will. In the beginning, the demo is exciting. It is big and it is immediate. It feels like things are moving fast... When it comes to coastal colors, the most common colors that come to mind are the blues and greens of water, but this week the inspiration for the color-of-the-week, comes from the sandy beach itself. Continue reading

I tell myself I'm over-thinking it, but it doesn't help. I must have major FOMO and feel a need to see everything before I make a design decision, but here is what I am thinking right now. Continue reading

On one day I would like the idea of a cottage style bathroom vanity with a lower shelf, and the next day I wanted the more modern look of a floating cabinet. I'm a conflicted woman.... but the bath in the lower level, this is where I could break out a bit.... Continue reading

Thank you. I appreciate the photo compliment since I am still learning. As for the tile, this is what is coming OUT. Yikes, it looks nicer in the photo than it is in real life. I hope you stop back to see the updates to this room. Be Colorful Coastal

While the contractor is waiting for the inspections, I am thinking about the fabrics and paint colors for our Palm Springs inspired bedroom. I've had this black, white and kelly green vision in my head for quite some time. Continue reading

It's been over three years since we bought our Florida home but it is only recently that we decided we were ready to take on the only two rooms in the house that house that haven't been updated; the master bedroom and bath. Continue reading

Cheerful Chartreuse. People either love it or hate it but there just isn't a color that it doesn't play nice with. It works with everything. In fashion or in decor, this is the perfect accent color. Continue reading

We are still trying to sell our big, family home in the Midwest, but we have already purchased and closed on our next downsized home up north that I lovingly refer to as the cottage. It is going to be a complete remodel from top to bottom. Meanwhile, we also have projects going on in our Florida home... Continue reading

Black seems like a contrary color to use in coastal design, but here are some primo examples of how this seemingly contradictory hue can bring a smart and dramatic look to nautical, waterside or tropically inspired rooms. Continue reading
