One of the best improvements was the upgrade to the facia of this home. The addition of the Craftsman style porch and stone accents gave the house the personality it was lacking. Continue reading

I won't sugarcoat it. Moving isn't for the faint-of-heart and downsizing is moving on a whole different level but done right and methodically, it can be a lot easier than you think. Continue reading

Elizabeth, Thanks for the visiting and I'm always happy to find someone that has a style lean similar to mine. The house actually has a couple shades of painted trim. But I think you are looking for the trim colors close to the room and that accent the arches in the front. That color is Benjamin Moore 060 Fresh Peach. I've never considered myself a peach person and so I was a bit put off by the name but it worked with the body of the house. The other "peach" colored accent is Farmer's Market which is also a Benjamin Moore paint 054. The green has faded from the Florida sun and was much closer to black when it was painted six years ago but it is a Sherwin Williams Rockwood Shutter Green. I hope this is helpful.

Thank you for stopping by Be Colorful Coastal. The front door you are asking about came from Smith and DeShields in Naples, Florida. The door is from Therma Tru and you can see it in a different color and glass here. https://www.thermatru.com/globalassets/widen/marketing-literature/brochures/19_cat_fullline_mafl2019_lr_reduced.pdf It is the second photograph down. I hope this helps. Pamela

Don't get me wrong. I'm ready for this to pass but I wonder if someday I will be craving just one of these slower, closer-to-home days and the time I had to do almost nothing at all. Continue reading

I was in San Francisco that year and looking out of my hotel window one night and I thought about our boy back home who loved skyscrapers. I so wished he could see the night time landscape of skyscrapers that I was looking at right then. That view gave me the idea to paint something similar in his bedroom back home. It could be a project we worked on together. Continue reading

A Korean at-home facial is one of the most relaxing ways to make use of your quarantined time and since I was fortunate enough to experience the most amazing Korean facial I thought now, while we are all sheltering-at-home, would be a good time to share what I learned and the products used. In so many unexpected ways this pandemic has brought my family closer. We talk more often and for longer stretches of time. Yes, the boredom is real... Finally, I have to give a shout out to all the pregnant moms out there that are dealing with this damn pandemic sober. I applaud you. Continue reading

These large faux palm leaves bring a little whimsy, another splash of color, and a base for the centerpiece. Without any time to order, I was scrambling to create a centerpiece and the easiest option to pull in the colors I needed was to go with my favorite flowers in coral and white. Continue reading

What I've Been Reading And Where I Find My Next Read 2019 was an incredibly busy year but even so, I was able to squeeze in some reading time for myself and reading. One quirk of mine is that I like to read wintery books when we are up north... Continue reading

There are thirty-two different wine options on tap. And yes, we did a little tasting. Walking around and taking on the usually mundane task of grocery shopping while sipping on a glass of wine is SO much more enjoyable. Loved. It. Continue reading

Thank you for stopping by and commenting. Yes, this kitchen has undergone some significant changes. The last update was almost ten years ago. As I look at these photos today I see changes I would like to make again. Because we went with classic finishes, the changes would be small but updated lighting is on my list. Again, thank you for visiting. Sent from my iPad

It took twenty-two months to get to this point but we are in the newly remodeled house and the old house is sold. The buyers bought all of the furniture and decor. We are starting completely over. It is like being twenty-something again but with an older body and a better budget. Continue reading

How exciting for you. You will have to post lots of pictures. I can't wait to see what you do. If we are healthy, this is a terrific chapter. A lot of changes but a lot of freedoms we never had before.

An interesting article. Thank you for sharing. I have had a traditional floor plan up north for the past twenty years and it worked for us with kids in the house. I always felt like we could each find a quiet-ish place and when we were entertaining a messy kitchen wasn't right in the line of sight. Our home down south and our newer downsized home up north both have a more open floor plan and now that it is just the two of us again, this seems to work. It is an efficient use of space and tidying up isn't the big ordeal that it used to be when everyone was still at home. That said, I do miss the quietness that a more traditional floorplan creates.

I loved coral before it was cool. I loved it so much, in fact, I went all-in with this happy hue when it was time to update our family room. These coral walls contrast so well with the white sofas and create a great backdrop for the greens, yellows, and hints of turquoise that are sprinkled throughout the room. Continue reading

This door doesn't look any different from a standard steel front door but it is much heavier and the glass is laminated to withstand impact, wind pressure, and water infiltration. What is noticeable about this door is that, unlike standard doors, it swings outward. This design impedes the ability of hurricane-force winds to push the door in. Continue reading
