I've heard that about the Nook. What do you think about the Blue Door?
Juicy Lucy verses Jucy Lucy: A Winner?
The results are in. Travel Channel's new show: Food Wars debuted its Minneapolis episode last night. The 5-8 Club's Juicy Lucy verses Matt's Bar's Jucy Lucy. In a close contest, Ragnar cast the deciding vote for Matt's Bar's Jucy Lucy. I don't think this national exposure and blind tas...
I just saw one on 34th with Tiki statues glued all over it. But I didn't have my camera.
Found in Nokomis
I saw this minivan parked in my neighborhood and had to stop and take a picture. This was last week when it was 30 below zero so I was NOT going to get out of the car. But, it was interesting enough to roll down the window to brave the cold for a quick snapshot. I've always been a fan of car ar...
Well Brandon, you are right and wrong. There were people who made horrible decissions. There were banks who let it happen. There were Realtors who encouraged it.
There were also people who were taken advantage of. I've worked with several mortgage consultants. Very few of them would ever allow my clients into preditory loans. And those loans did not have the backing of Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, or FHA. I've met very few agents in this business who are capable of such selfish acts, although I'm sure they exist.
The truth remains, as this affect the whole housing market and the whole economy, that we are all in this together.
Foreclosures in our neighborhood

On a short sale, the bank doesn't always set the price. The current owner and their agent do. Then after you write you offer, they ask for permission. It sounds shady, but even if they do get permission from the bank to list at a given price, the bank still reviews it and can possibly reject it.
Fun, no?
The Dirty Truth About Foreclosures
Think you want to save money by purchasing a foreclosed home? Prepare yourself for a long frustrating process. These homes are often winterized, so you'll have to arrange for the heat and water to be turned back on before you'll be able to inspect their condition. So they won't show anywher...
Indeed Ferocious J. West Nokomis is way louder with the planes. On the East side we get them taking off, but not landing. But admittedly, I can hear them taxi-ing all morning.
What the West side really has that prices its homes higher is more large homes. Those kinds of homes are just harder to find on the East side and often the largest home on the block.
East vs. West-Lake Nokomis Real Estate
You can't always put a finger on it-why one neighborhood feels different than another. You just know there's something that happens, a kind of transition, between one block and another. If you drive into Minneapolis from the suburbs you may not even notice it. All of the "old houses" probably s...
Yes! You said it all. Big rug to put shoes on, keep it warm, and figure out your key situation! Not only is it frustrating to figure out which one to use, but it can be tricky to fit them all back in the lock-box.
You want to look at houses in this weather?
This photo is a very close approximation to the look on my face when I realized I would be outside showing homes this last weekend. Only the hardiest of home buyers venture out into the artic weather to look at homes. When it's double digit below zero windchill it doesn't seem to matter how m...
Are you really going to make me mention A Baker's Wife? The delicious jewel of the East side?

Ha! I tried showing my friends from Kansas the frozen falls at Minnehaha one winter. They whined like you wouldn't believe.
Cold Californians Learn about Minneapolis Weather
I had the pleasure of working with a young couple from California over the weekend. They are relocating to Minnesota, and they picked the coldest weekend of the year to visit Minneapolis and search for a home to buy. Last Thursday when I heard the forecast for Martin Luther King Weekend, I c...
You know that the only reason their apple fritter is the best is because A Baker's Wife (right down the street at 42nd St and 28th Ave) doesn't make an apple fritter. If Gary put his mind to it, he could make the best apple fritter the world has ever seen.
Nokomis Sugary Goodness
One of the best things about living in the city are the hidden treasures that hold unexpected surprises. If you live in a Minneapolis suburb and go to the strip mall down the road, you'll likely find a Starbucks or Caribou Coffee. You have a pretty good idea of what you'll find when you walk i...
My nine-months-pregnant wife and I just took the rail downtown to see Jon Stewart on Friday. We bought 6-hour passes for $3.50. It saved us a whopping 50 cents each! Not to mention the $10 we would have spent on parking.
3 Things You Should Know Before Taking the Light Rail
Here's a picture of the light rail, that runs along Hiawatha Avenue. Although I live close to the line in Nokomis,I've only ridden it a few times. Last night, my husband and I grabbed the train, and went to the Cabooze on to listen to Tina Schlieske. I was surprised to find the entertainmen...
