From a Boss' mouth: "It just looks like they're not playing with the same kind of passion that we played with and past great Hurricane teams played with." -Dan Morgan on this year's defense. Dan, it's because we don't have any Bosses on the field yet. Posted by: Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer | November 19, 2009 at 07:50 AM This is a very telling statement and I agree. Go to http://www.youtube.com/user/rusty98um11 and watch all the clips from this season. In the first 4 games, our focus and excitement level were very high. We played well and went 3-1. Lately though, we've been flat and the energy hasn't been there. Then go to http://www.youtube.com/user/31spoonerstreet and watch the highlights from the FAMU game. You can see the difference in the passion the team plays with. Thing is, the 1 guy who is always JACKED and playing like there is no tommorrow.... RAY RAY ARMSTRONG! He brings it EVERY play and he is ALWAYS JACKED! Sad that it must come from a true freshman, but hopefully he takes on a leadership role and motivates the defense to play hard and fast ALL OF THE TIME! Last night on the Canes 4 Life show (Rivals spin off). Several former Canes including Leon Searcy talked about just this very fact.

JCane - We were recruiting Alex Smith earlier in the year and he had said some favorable things. Since (this was late summer) I have not heard very much about him. With Cinci doing so well, his decommittment (although always suspect) falling through is a bit surprising. Posted by: shwarma | November 18, 2009 at 01:50 PM They gave him an ultimatum and he didn't comply.

1906... like your tag, damn son... How big are ya?... 6-1, 240,???... you and Carlos should be book ends!!! Posted by: Cat5Cane | November 16, 2009 at 06:53 PM HAHAHA! I wish I was that small! HAHAHA! I'm 6 ft 3+ my friend. I played C/DT in HS and College and was a Top 66 player in State of Maryland in '91 out of HS. I am working out again though, and am losing weight. I want to get back to my playing weight of about 275 within a year.

Are we still expecting a big committ tonight? Posted by: Old Skool | November 16, 2009 at 04:37 PM IDK, is there a kid who's supposed to announce today? bg1906 has the knowledge for sure. I'm sure he'll be on to answer shortly. Posted by: CanesAddiction | November 16, 2009 at 04:44 PM The rumor was we were expecting 2 local commitments tonight. We will see.

What's up Legion. Back on the scene. Was in Vegas for a week for a Microsoft conference. Tuff loss on Saturday. I was upset with all the long balls being thrown and the abandonment of the run game. I think injuries and really decimated our team and we potentially should have been better than what we've even shown. But with that said, this team still has a tremendous amount of work to do to be a truly elite team. We've over and under achieved this year depends on the scenario. But I'm happy with the improvement as of now and would like to see us close strong at 9-3 and a nice bowl win.

Nu'Keese was a player I had wanted... Just goes to show... Randy does his work. Posted by: CaneSawMassacre | November 12, 2009 at 10:46 AM We would have recruited all three of these kid's if they were interested, and if they were qualified. With that said I do not think they would have committed this crime if they were at The U. Randy & Co. are doing so much more behind the scenes to help our kids succeed in life. Sam Shields is a perfect example. When he was acting up he wasn't playing, but that didn't mean they stopped teaching him. And now he will probably get a shot at the NFL, AND be able to handle it! This staff truly cares about their kid's on and off the field. Randy and Co. are turning boys into men. IT'S GREAT TO BE A FAN OF THE MIAMI HURRICANE'S!! Go 'canes! Posted by: Sarasota 'cane | November 12, 2009 at 12:46 PM We could have recruited these kids but we DIDN'T and that is with good reason. Trust your staff when it comes to recruiting. That is something we do VERY WELL!

What up Legion. I'm in Vegas so I haven't been around. But I'll be back home tomorrow night. Rumor is we will get a BIG COMMITMENT on Monday (read between the lines and keep it quiet please). Class is shaping up nicely!

4 rb's in this class.. I'm a little baffled by that, but... OK. Posted by: CaneSawMassacre | November 03, 2009 at 02:08 PM 3 RBs and 1 FB I believe. At least one, maybe two, RBs will be red shirted next year. Building for the future. Posted by: 86Cane | November 03, 2009 at 02:14 PM Thanks 86! U are spot on!

BG, how many ships do we have left? Room for Dunkley, Lemonier and Ego? What's your take on the Dent kid? Could he go both ways? Return punts along with Davis? Posted by: Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer | November 03, 2009 at 01:28 PM Ships are getting tight but each of those guys are MAJOR players. I'd say if all 3 wanted in they are in. It will just push recruits that are not thought of as highly. I assume we may hear from the 2 STA guys very soon too. Or maybe not, but ships are getting TIGHT and if guys want in, they are going to speak now or forever hold your peace!

There is another big fish recruit that we may be hearing from soon...maybe even this week. We are in a tight race for him, but I think we win out. Lets hope so!

morning everyone! Bg- what are your thoughts on Storm, Clements, and the running back commit whose name I can't remember? Is Clements the most likely to compete for early playing time? Posted by: j.w. | November 03, 2009 at 12:40 PM All of them are different. Clements = Mr. Versatility. Can run between the tackles and had good but not great speed. His greatest asset to me is as a receiver out of the back field. Hall is a bigger back with some good speed. He can make some people miss, but is a solid back. Johnson is a big hard to tackle guy. Runs HARD. Very good speed too. Will get the tough yards. Hagens projects at FB and is a very accomplished runner is his own right at Tampa Tech. Big guy. Will have to get better at blocking but could challenge for immediate time next year along side of Calhoun (assuming Mike James doesn't stay at FB and Pat Hill doesn't get a medical redshirt)

Yes Clements was the silent I referred to the other day. That gives us Hall Clements Johnson Hagens 4 RBs like I said the other day. We are done at RB. I'd take Johnson and Clements over Gore too, so I see why it was done.
