The letter R? I'm thinking you were typecast...
Thank you for this excellent blog post, and thank you for posting a picture of peanut butter cup oreo candy corn turkeys. Also, YAY DOG. Woo(f)-hoo!

Re your Kool-Aid gurus: it's not cynicism, it's healthy skepticism. Or should I say scepticism.

Just chiming in to say that just because we're not commenting doesn't mean we're not reading... :)
Ok, so what's in a Purple Rain?

I'd very much like a Boxing Day holiday. Preferably without the speedos.
Merry Christmas Rene! This is the first year I've put one up too, so I know exactly what you mean. We have a little artificial tabletop tree that makes it nice and festive.

I'm slightly disappointed to read a blog post of yours on being green and not see the word "nurdle." It'd better make an appearance next time!
Ceci n'est pas une tortilla.

Sus beat me to it! I was going to ask about the same phrase, which confused me in the first installment too. So what's in a good old-time country lunch? Since you mentioned them, I remember now I downloaded a Delta Spirit album some time ago and I liked it a lot. I'll have to revisit it...
Rene, I thought I was essentially alone in this world as someone who enjoys candy corn.

Tickets to the dressage medal event -- very cool! Hope you have lots of fun.
I really dig that you use this platform for more than just the comics chat. Love the outside-the-lines stuff. (Dig? Who says dig anymore?) B

Batmom, I have a backlog of blog to catch up on (since mid-April -- *guilt*), but I'm glad I could set aside my OCD long enough to read this one out of order. My first thought was that all-caps GOOD vs. EVIL is a necessity of the movie's target audience being kids, but that's not true at all upon further consideration. Too many grown-up movies are written the same way, insulting to the intelligence, which is why I've never been much of a movie person unless I generally go in with low expectations. But even the kids' movies can be morally complex -- The Incredibles is probably my favorite of the Pixars because the characters were so human and so complicated. And *still* every little boy wanted to be Dash that Halloween. B

Not an intentional Blues Brother, no. I was in my suit at a wedding last weekend, grabbed someones sunglasses and put them on (women's sunglasses), and a photo was snapped. And now that I'm reminded of "bun fight," the rabbit scene from Holy Grail comes to mind...

Phantom Tollbooth is one of my all-time favorites. We read it in our book club in North Carolina, the "There's a Book at the End of This Book Club" which I'm sure either Sus or I have talked about. Moominland is still on the list!

Dammit, I wanted to come down here and comment on bun fight, and of course I see Sus has already taken it. Figures. I sort of pictured a heated lapine exchange. Cutest donnybrook ever!

Agreed, Sus. Creepy doppelganger. As for the near-miss disaster of N, X, and Y, this is why algebra sucks!

Loved this entry! Looks like I need to add some more music to my collection.
On Top of Spaghetti was from a TV show? I don't remember learning it from TV. What show? Here's the Gopher Guts variant I remember: Great green gobs of greasy grimy gopher guts Icky sticky monkey meat Smelly little birdies' feet One quart jar of all-purpose porpoise pus Floating in the pink lemonade. and it wasn't a complete tune until you added: ...And me without a spoon!
I tried to comment while I was traveling but I guess it didn't post. Was going to guess something along the lines of what Andrea has already confirmed re loony, so instead I'll just say that is one creepy chef clown.
