Conferences Show A Massive Opportunity For Cameron I have watched the first two major party conferences of the season with a mixture of interest and incredulity. The LibDem conference was interesting because it was fascinating to watch the assorted Tree Huggers, Europhiles and Sandal wearers desperately trying to suppress their... Continue reading

Ideologically Motivated Cuts Amidst the sound a fury of the howls of protest coming from the TUC and the Left of politics in general, one catch phrase has caught my eye. They complain about the Conservatives and their “ideologically motivated cuts” They cry out that this is a vicious and... Continue reading

Ian Austin, the “Diversity Fund” an a load of Balls ! Ian Austin, Labour MP for Dudley North. Has thrown his considerable campaigning abilities behind Ed Balls` bid for Labour leadership. Indeed the whole Dudley Labour team appears to be involved in this support as Councillor Ali is featured on... Continue reading

The Ignored Class I recently got into a discussion about the class system. During the discussion it became relevant for me to state my social class and I realised I wasn’t sure anymore. When I grew up in the 1970s it was pretty straightforward. Manufacturing industry and the roles within... Continue reading

A New Threat to Britain, Pyjamas! It’s been Seventy years since the Battle of Britain. This was a time when Britain was in danger and its people had to unite to allow it to have a future. Over the centuries there have been many other threats to the future of... Continue reading

One Hundred and Twenty Miles of Moans and Whines! I recently had to travel to London for a meeting. Myself and my wife boarded the train to London with expectations of the normal pleasant and efficient journey down thanks to Virgin Trains. We are constrained as to where we can... Continue reading

Why State Education Is So Important To Me Recently, a well meaning acquaintance suggested that we should make every effort to get our kids into private education. She cited several horror stories about the standard of state education in support of her views and basically implied that the only way... Continue reading

British History Can Be Divided Into BB (Before Blair) and AB (After Blair) I doubt that I am the only person who no longer recognises the country we live in. I grew up in a nation that was distinctly and clearly different to the modern United Kingdom. The changes are... Continue reading

Where is King Arthur ? As a youngster, I loved the American Marvel Comics. These comics gave us Superheroes like Captain America, Spiderman, The Hulk and Iron Man. This was much to my parents chagrin as they were much more keen on telling me tales of great English heroes both... Continue reading

Teach the kids and stop making excuses! Having just seen yet another set of kids rolled out to tell the media how upset they are about their new school build not going ahead, I feel it’s time to comment on this nonsense. The kids who are appearing on our TVs,... Continue reading

Why Are You A Tory? One question I am repeatedly asked is why am I a Tory? During the last election campaign there wasn’t a day that passed by without someone looking at me in a quizzical way and questioning why someone like me would be supporting the Conservative party.... Continue reading

The clamour from Labour and their supporters on the “Left” of British politics has been very hard to ignore. They never miss an opportunity to rage and vent their fury about the cuts in public spending announced in George Osborne’s first budget. Most reasonable commentators agree that public spending is... Justice Outweighs Financial Cost Kenneth Clarke is a man who is never shy of advocating views that are unpalatable to his fellow Conservatives. For many years his Pro European views were at the centre of a damaging civil war within his party, a civil war which was a major part... Continue reading

the Secretary of the Dudley area N.U.T has written to the local press expressing the view that as well as tax increases, the Trident Nuclear Detterent should be axed. Now as far as I am aware, there are no plans to create a missile silo at any of our local schools so what this has to do with the N.U.T is beyond me Continue reading

The Vuvuzela of Socialism The Dudley branch of the N.U.T is collaborating with the T.U.C to organise a protest against the anticipated cuts coming from the Coalition Governments emergency budget. Prison Overcrowding ! Apparently our jails are over crowded. Now Im going to risk sounding terribly old fashioned but here goes. How about offering the perpertrators of relatively minor misdemeanours a choice. Prison time or a swift dose of corporal punishment. Maybe we could give small time villains options. If... Tonights Express and Star had a very interesting article on the front page. Apparently our local Labour MP and one of his Labour Councillor allies have spoken out about the parking charges at Russells Hall hospital, in Dudley. They believe that the parking should be made free. I have spent more time than I would like visiting people at Russells Hall and other hospitals in the area and I have to agree the parking charges are annoying and rather expensive. Its obviously a considerate and popular idea to cancel parking charges. Then it occured to me how typical this was... Continue reading
