For several years now the Music Business Association (formerly NARM) has been holding half/full day seminars called the Music Startup Academy. Each segments leaders are current execs from top labels, publishers, PRO's and management companies. We have hosted these events in NYC 3x, SF 2x, Nashville 2x, Atlanta, LA, Boston, London as well as privately for one of our member companies. Although it has taken a few different models, the core of the event now is focused on teaching startups three basics - masters and songwriting rights, doing deals with artists and content owners, and basics of industry metadata.
