I have absolutely no flipping idea. I can't listen to "I Will Follow You Into the Dark" by Death Cab For Cutie. It was the song that was on my iPod in my car after driving home from the worst inpatient call of my life. If it comes on the radio, I have to turn it off and hum or sing something else happier (lately it's been "Blister in the Sun" by the Violent Femmes, because who doesn't like that song?). Music is the soundtrack to our lives. Chapters are marked by particular songs - the first dance at your wedding, songs you sing to your kids in the tub. Mostly, they're good memories. But sometimes they're not. And I don't think immersion therapy can fix that. But maybe redirecting your brain to a tune with happier associations (a favorite song of Ike's perhaps?) can.
Oh dear sweet Baby Jesus, please tell me you people have seen this: Is it sad that I thought instantly of Soxaholix when I read this?

1. I did something new with the medical students today and they learned AND had fun. The best part was the lessons they learned were non-medical. 2. I have the awesomest of friends at work. 3. I haven't finished my Christmas shopping and I couldn't care less, even though I'm working all this week and next. Normally I stress about this but I don't really care. It'll get done.

I rolled into my polling place at 6:15 AM and was voter #16. I didn't get a cool "I Voted" sticker so I wore my Obama button all day instead. I got many thanks for Barocking the vote today too. I also found out that one of my fellow hospitalists drove to PA last weekend and knocked on 400 doors to get out the vote for Obama. Wicked awesome.
