We will see those little Sooners in 9 months. I hope Bradford remains and plays. Big statement game for Canes.

Cav - I had to leave and you beat me over the head while I was gone. My point is this - in my opinion - WF did very very little to give themselves a chance to win. Of course we started to shut them down but almost any team could based on their gameplan. It's a win, yes. Momentum, yes. Coaching, improving. But I feel WF had more to do with it than us. That's it.

Dont need a headset to see an extra player in the box holmes. Is Wake 24-7 since 2006 using a run only attack featuring a fullback dive? Don't think so. I never said anything about 49 points - much more concerned over the 3 and long trend.

Cav - Honestly man, did we shut down Skinner? Cmon. On paper, yes but how may db were thrown at? This is what I mean by their "Can't Win" gameplan.

How do I know? I watched the game. Any win is a good win but WF set football back 30 years and they basically conceded the game to us with that strategy. It's a win but I thought we took a small step back.

WF coaching staff implemented a "Can't win" game plan and we barely were able come out on top. 2 troubling indicators: when we played our normal front WF gashed us and they are a below average running team and 2) it took a half of football for the coaches to recognize that WF wasnt going to throw it.

ok, first off, I hate everything about the little Faggies of College Station,TX. Last year, and we can ask 86 to check the vault, I called for an easy UM win over them - for several reasons. Sometimes you learn alot about the teams you root against. Now on to this weekend - this is not a gimme game by any means. Why? 2 concerns I have are 1) TAMU, each year, pulls a game out of their arse and either beats a superior opponent or plays them to the wire 2) UM has to start winning road games for me to feel any comfort level in another stadium. What made the pick so easy last year is making it difficult this year - both teams have been ugly on the road.
No question this is a different team - faster, bigger, stronger but the one thing that looked oh so familiar was the offensive and the play calling. 24 plus points a game we win out. Move the ball enough to own the field position battle, we win out. Score under 20 a game every game will be close. Continue the 3 and out trend from the last 3 years, every game will be close. It is rare to watch any team not come out in the 2nd half and start exposing the other team's weaknesses. I think we are givving FL D way too much credit - time will tell.

True Cav, qb is key. I do see more and more that the young qb's are thrown out there and they live or die by running the more aggressive schemes. This mainly applies to the spread passers but I do think you can gain confidence by playing your game, making mistakes, and building from that. Don' get me wrong, this is a different team. I'm just not sold on slip screens and safe routes - all night. We looked like VT or Auburn - which is an improvement.

I think we have just as much personnel talent on offense as we do on defense. The clear difference is the coaching philosophy. All day, I have watched teams with very little talent on offense MOVE the ball on much better teams. They attack. I understand that we have to "set-up" some things for later in the game - but we continued to run into the 8 man front late in the 3rd and 4th - that's poor play calling.

Canez1 is right. Lots of teams are suspending players for their cupcake game. No big deal. I can't wait to see Jacory - just a scrimmage.

Cav - Almost. We beat Duke - barely - in 06 on the road. 3 road wins and the blue turf win since VT win in '05. Also, since that '05 VT win, UM has scored 50 or more points just once (FLA A&M) and more shockingly 40 or more points just once (Wake '05).

Since tanning VT's hide on the road in '05, does anyone know UM's road record since? Also, on the road against ranked opponents.

I have read several comments lately along the lines of "OU did it with a frosh QB" and so on - that's fools gold sirs. OU was freakin loaded last year. Bradford had great numbers but most OU qbs have had huge numbers over the last 8 years. System. Great skill players. Great offensive line.

Miamimike01 is dead on. Lots of questions that need to be answered when the whistle blows. On top of that, this team needs to play in some meaningful games - on the road - and compete or win. Those are building blocks for a ten win season in 09-10.

Cav - I don't agree with the Bradford comparison at OU. One of the best O lines in country, very solid RB's, very solid TE, NFL talent at WR and a proven offensive system. I think alot of talented RS freshmen QB's could make hay in that situation.

I'm with Carlos. The offensive scheme is wack. Outside of the power running game, nothing else Nix tries to do is impressive. I say it was the about the 90 most effective offensive system last year wth horrible players - bringing it in at 110. Hope he was holding back becuz of the talent but why would he - thats a dangerous risk.
