When fall and winter come to the Seattle area, the fireplaces are glowing and the wine is flowing :) The weather can be cool and drizzly in the Northwest outdoors, but the local restaurants, pubs, and coffee houses are very cozy inside in the wintertime. My husband and I love... Continue reading

Sweet Lola Yogurt Bar.....A discovery on my recent trip to Houston
Don't you just love frozen yogurt? To me, there is not a more refreshing treat on a warm day than a scoop or two of delicious, creamy frozen yogurt! Yogurt or sorbet is always a good low-fat/low sugar alternative to regular ice cream, so for people like me who try... Continue reading

Thank you, Esther, for your visit today. I visited your blog and saw many beautiful Limoges boxes there. Love the ones that look like cartons with little easter eggs in them! So cute. Thanks for the nice comment. Have a beautiful day! Kim
Things in my Nest
Collecting Limoges Boxes As a child, we are all enchanted with boxes. We all remember the stories of pirates in search of a buried treasure. As the stories go, when the chests were found, they always contained something special inside. As the lid slowly opens, we wonder, will there be g...

Goodbye to my dear Aunt Ruth :(
Dear friends and family, My brother, sister and I had a very sad thing happen in our lives on March 9th, 2012. Our dear, dear Aunt Ruth who has lived in Kissimmee, Florida, for many years passed away very suddenly. She was 82 years old and the last of my sweet Mother's siblings. I was at ho...
Hi Trish,
Thank you soooooo much for your sweet comments on my blog. I am so blessed to have such great blog friends. You are a special blessing to me, Trish. I always enjoy seeing you on my blog. Thank for your love and support. You have been with me since the beginning of my blog. That has meant so much to me. I hope things are going well in Australia. Hugs to all those lovely ladies in Patchwork. Thank you for your nice comments during a sad time for me. I will truly miss my Aunt Ruth, but feel at peace that she is with my Mom, Dad, all her family and my grandparents in God's beautiful heaven. I was happy that they were all together at Easter. My Aunt Ruth was the last of my mom's family, sadly. She was my very favorite Aunt and will be missed but kept close to my heart forever. Have a bluebird day, Trish! Hope you have had a chance to enjoy a delicious high tea with your family recently. Love ya, Kim xoxo

Hi Claudie!
Thank you soooo much for checking on me and for your sweet comments! Happy upcoming anniversary! Miami is very nice this time of year...not too hot. It would be great to have lunch with you! Too bad we are not going to be in the same place at the same time...but, maybe we will sometime! That would be great! I hope that you and your sweet hubby have a wonderful anniversary together and wish you many, many more fabulous years together as you continue to share life's path with one another. Thank you, also, for the compliment on my sister's hat creations. I think she really has a talent for making these! I had fun trying them on! She actually gave me a hat (the base) and I am going to try my own hand at making one myself. We will see how it goes.... I'll post a photo at some point. I couldn't take the hat back with me when I was in Florida due to lack of room in my overly packed suitcase, but I will be taking it back when I return from the visit this time. Claudie, I always enjoy visiting you at your blog. Have a beautiful day! xoxo Kim

Hi Sandy,
Thank you sooooo much for the nice comments and for your visit. Thank you so much for the sweet compliments on my cupcake photos. I am going to be meeting Joy in person in Seattle in about a week or so. She is going to be at the shop of the "Cake Spy" over in Seattle doing a book tour meet and greet. I am planning on making a quiche that she has in her recipe book this week and also some scrumptious chamomile cupcakes that look delish! I think these chamomile cupcakes would be so perfect with tea. I am going to let her know in person that I have tried these recipes and am looking forward to making more, more, more! I have to control myself with the cupcakes though....I had THREE, yes three, of them! They were soooooo good! I hope you make them sometime. I also wish you lived close to me. We would be bestest friend I know! Not that we aren't good friends already! I feel we have a lot in common and, of course, we share the memories of starting our blogs together. We kind of held each other's hands so to speak. Brenna was cute in the dance she did for her "Papa." They live in Florida. Wish they were closer! That chef photo that you liked makes me smile, too, every time I see it. I am hoping to keep one or two new postings on my blog a week. My next one will feature some artwork from a museum in Washington, DC. SO glad you like the red in my dining room....it is a southern thing to have red in that room. HA! What can I say? I love my color! Anyway, my husband and I are hoping to paint my den off my kitchen and kitchen itself very, very soon. I'll post some photos. Your redo of your kitchen is amazing! Great, great job! Have a wonderful day, Sandy. Love ya xoxo Kim
Cupcakes for my darlin's birthday
Yesterday, was my dear husband's birthday. Every year, I try to make his birthday special. Part of my ritual for a great birthday is, of course, a cake! Since we have been living in Poulsbo which is just a ferry ride away from Seattle, I have been heading over to Sluys' Bakery and ordering...
All the photos look so beautiful, Fifi! So sorry to hear about you losing your dear little cat. It is hard to lose a pet. My husband I have been through it ourselves. I am looking forward to getting your magazine! I know it will be something I will want to keep forever! You are so adorable, Fifi. Thanks for sharing these photos! xoxo Kim @ Bluebirds and Butterflies
SNOW, HORSES, DOGS, CATS AND BON FIRE...........
As soon as we knew snow was coming to Michigan Mark and I flew there to complete the shoots we couldn't finish last time due to lack of the white stuff. So, we met (again) in Detroit and drove across the sate back to ANGELA AND MATT'S FARMHOUSE And we did get our shots! Here are a few snippets....

Glad Future Pilot enjoyed the movie! You are a great teacher with the knack for turning a movie night at home into a teaching and learning experience! Great job!
A Fabulous World Below the World
After our impromptu movie night earlier this week, we decided to have another tonight. Netflix did not have Tora, Tora, Tora! (the mechanic's suggestion) so we went with Journey to the Center of the Earth, the original 1959 version. It's another that I had never seen, but generally all my favo...
My dear Sandy,
Thank you, my dear friend, for your sweet comments as always. I have really enjoyed seeing your own blog evolve through the past year. YOU are a jewel in the blogging world and beyond. I absolutely consider you a true friend. I love all the changes you have recently made to your kitchen. You have a real knack for decorating! I know you feel so warm and cozy in that beautiful environment at home. I loved coming along with you on your blog recently when you found a new piece of Fire King which you love. I felt your excitement, too! Love you and thank you, Sandy, for all the love and support you have given me on my blog over the past year or so. We have learned together. Have a beautiful day! xoxo Kim
The Most Recognized House in the United States....

Hi Sheri,
Thank you soooo much for your visit today and for the very nice comments. You are doing a great job with your blog, Red Rose Alley, too. I enjoy every visit that I make to your blog to see what you and the girls have been up to. So happy you liked the posting I did on the White House....definitely the most recognized address and house in the USA. Have a great day! xoxo Kim

Hi Claudie,
Thank you, thank you, for all the beautiful comments. Sounds like we have a lot in common in our lives. Thanks for the sweet comment on my age....I am actually 57 as of February 9th last month. But, I never look at age in a bad way, you know? I always take the attitude on my birthday that I will never be this age again....this young again. This attitude helps me face every birthday feeling blessed. :) You mentioned your upcoming birthday. My husband, Mark, has a birthday March 5th that we will be celebrating. We are the same age, my hubby and I, but my birthday is 4 days shy of being exactly one month before his. We tease I am the older woman during that period. HA! You are a lovely lady, too. I love your spunk and love of life. I am very sorry to hear about your loss of your own Mother. I miss my dear mom every single day. It has been 3 years for me living without her. I miss seeing and talking to her. I see you lost your father many year ago...my Dad, too, is now gone. Lost him two months after my Mom died. 2008 was a hard year! Anyway, I am blessed because I had them both. I will keep you in my prayers, Claudie, as you heal from the loss of your Mother. I know she looks down from heaven and smiles when she sees you. After losing my parents, blogging helped me to heal. Keep blogging and smiling. You have a bright and beautiful smile, friend. Thanks for your visit and all the sweet comments. Have a beautiful day there in Canada. xoxo Kim
My birthday reflections....
Each year, on New Year's Eve, we all take a look at our lives and come up with a whole new list of things we could've, should've and would've done in the previous year.....our list of new year's resolutions. We vow to exercise more, eat healthier, finally organize ourselves and our lives, and, i...
