Memorial Day Weekend!
Memorial Day is nigh! For me its a time to remember gas for the grill, the names of my kids' Significant Others (JK! Its the kids' names I still stumble on!), our nations's war dead and of course this old post from carefree 2008, when Candidate Barack re-imagined the holiday: Obama: He's Ready T...
The daily press conferences are great. I would like to see how many people are hospitalized as a result. After all the how many are infected does not tell us of the effect it is having on the health care system. We already know that a majority of infected have mild symptoms; so if a there is no large increase in hospitalizations as a result of the Wuhan Flu, then all these measures are excessive. As is the rationale for them, is not being validated.
Are You Ready For Some Football?
Are you ready for some football? I expect the coronavirus to return this fall (if it ever goes away) and the fall football season to be either cancelled or played as Made For TV spectacles in empty stadiums. The second most dangerous play in football is leaving your QB unprotected on the blind s...
Bitecofer noticed the increased third-party votes in 2016 and extrapolated from there. She concluded that these third-party voters were Hillary voters and used this to predict 2018.
I have thought that not enough attention has been given to this group of voters from the 2016 election. In my analysis these voters kept Trump from winning Nevada for example where Hillary margin of victory was 20,000+ votes and Gary Johnson's Libertarian Party alone, received 27,000 more votes than what he received in 2012.
Send Better Fixers
In the Iowa Update du Jour Bernie Sanders will claim the popular vote (both rounds) and may eke out a win in the SDE tally, or State Delegate Equivalents. Apparently Team Sanders organized new satellite caucuses and is turning in great results from them. Uh, satellite caucuses? Say what? Let's g...
Theo- I tend to agree with what you said. However, the triumphant mood you describe can only to ascribed to the Republicans but if you listen to the media it was far from a 'slam-dunk', I think it should have been.
Calling all witnesses will be the only way that this farce is going to be settled. Unfortunately, I fear. Whether the WH wanted or not.
OTH, the Dems might also want to drag this out, to keep Bernie tied with the peach mint instead of campaigning.
Meanwhile, Back In Australia...
I frittered away the morning watching (on DVR) Nadal beat Kyrgios in a match that was closer than the 3-1 set score might suggest. And bad boy Nick Kyrgious had a redemptive, high-character week, so good for him. But to preserve suspense I maintain a news blackout. Anything happening?
So Trump ""Preferred"" to hold aid until the Ukraine corruption/election interfering was investigated. And??
Aid not withheld and no investigation or announcement of one was declared.
I would preferred to do many things, however I'm only able to do few. Let's move on. Bolton is another 'dud' by the MSM that over promises but under delivers.
If anything, this may allow Trump to get witness testimony that he would not otherwise get. Makes you wonder if the WH is the source of the leak.

One aspect that I have not heard mentioned is the "wishful thinking" of the administration. This is a "Field of Dreams" group that is running our country. They act, then hope for the best result, as in giving guns to the cartels, speeches in the ME, resets with Russia and Iran, lack of security in Benghazi, etc. It is all wishful thinking, exemplified by Pelosi's we have to pass it to see what in it statement.
Noonan On ObamaCare
Peggy Noonan discusses ObamaFail and offers an important caveat to those drawing analogies to that earlier classic of technological hubris meeting nemesis, namely, the Titanic: ...in fairness, the Titanic at least had three good days... Good point! As to the inevitable death spiral, the bad news...
Obama: Imagine if workers could shut down a manufacturing plant just because they didn’t get what they want
The difference being that when any Labor Union does it, there are "always" justified in their minds. No one else is allowed that sort of action, especially not the Republicans.
Bracing For A Long Shutdown
Politico runs an inadvertently terrifying story about the politics behind the shutdown: Government shutdown: Why many Republicans have no reason to deal The prevailing wisdom ahead of the government shutdown was that tea party lawmakers who agitated for it would fold within a few days, once they...
