A day of travel through the wine country of Tuscany on our way to Sienna. Saw Sienna's striking colors and contrasts on a day with clouds skittering through the air. Finished the day at San Gimignano as the skies covered over with grey and the towers stood mute. Continue reading

A restful day at Waldensian retreat center, Casa Cares, and short day trip to Greve-in-Chianti. Greve was largely shuttered up! (A down season for tourists). The olive grove and the sunset were life-giving. Continue reading

We fell in love with the city of Bologna. The oldest university in the world with bookstores on every corner. Food. Faulty towers leaning over archways of grace. Did we mention really good food? Continue reading

Wonderful worship at the Waldensian Church in Milan followed by a stroll around the city. The sanctuary was beautifully renovated ... but I forgot to take photos! It was a "no car" day in the city so everyone was out strolling or on bikes (no cars to hop around!). Continue reading

Final full day in Arles. A wonderful home in Southern France. A sunny day to watch divers recover an ancient Roman ship from the river and visit the arena, theater, and a few Van Gogh sites. Continue reading

Powerful day at Merindol, site where a village of Waldensians / Protestants, were sent through a faux door (looks like a window in the photo) to their death down a cliff. One of many villages that suffered for their conscience. Loumarin was also visited by Waldensians before the Reformation. Baux-de-Provence is .. well .. beaux. Continue reading
