id scanner -- Thanks for working with Nuance software.
Chris R. -- If you are an eCopy ShareScan user on Maintenance & Support, the cost is free. You can get it through your MFP supplier. If you are not an eCopy ShareScan user, you can purchase and get pricing information from you MFP supplier.
SharePoint is a powerfull tool. I will look into the work management capabilities.
Thanks for the kind words.
It would depend on your definition of "safe." Nothing is fool proof. Certainly digital signatures can be a safe today as physical signatures.

Nick -- Now I better understand. You want to batch convert to searchable PDF and don't want to make an additional investment. eCopy PaperWorks has a batch conversion capability. If you are still using eCopy Desktop and are on maintenance, you can get eCopy PaperWorks for free by contacting the person you bought eCopy from. You can try it for free for 45 days here http://workstationeval.ecopy.com/ If you are not on eCopy maintenance, you will need to buy Nuance PDF Converter or eCopy PaperWorks. Hope this helps.
Why do you need to do this in eCopy? Both PDF Converter and eCopy are Nuance products.
Yes. Nuance PDF Converter has batch conversion of PDFs to searchable PDFs. Try it for free by using the trial version at http://www.betterpdf.com/
id scanner -- I don't really think that ShareScan is specialized software. It is software for use with your office MFP or scanner.
Jane -- Thanks for the kind words. I hope you keep reading.
Thanks for commenting Tina. This is a good point. Please also note that Nuance has free PDF Reader software that provides highly accurate OCR for scanned documents. So you can scan from your Toshiba MFP as a PDF and convert it to Word or RTF using the free PDF Reader. You can down load the reader at http://www.nuance.com/imaging/products/pdf-reader.asp
Eva -- There are some interesting products in the eWeek products to watch for March. Hope you see something that is helpful.
Eva -- Document scanning can help an organization improve their environmental stance if done correctly. However, outsourcing it with document scanning services is less green than document imaging done in house. There's no need to transport documents out of house and it can be done with MFPs that the organization already has.

Hi Aileen -- Since the scanning software is for office documents, exact color matching, as for high quality printing, is not a focus of this type of software.
It is absolutely true that if people are printing out scanned documents everytime they need them, it will use more paper. I hope people are displaying documents on computer screens or, if they are in large groups, projecting them using slide projectors.

Thanks Amanda. We always like to hear about good seminars.
Jenny -- I think there will be a general impatience with any delay of delivery of information. People will not be willing to wait for information. They will expect that delivery will be instantaneous.
