Contest! Contest! Contest!
I wanted to alert my last, loyal blog readers (I know it has been pretty thin around here lately!) that I am hosting a promotional contest over at Nature's Cauldron. You can help me spread the word about my natural... Continue reading

Happy Thanksgiving
Prayer for the Great Family Gratitude to Mother Earth, sailing through night and day— and to her soil: rich, rare and sweet in our minds so be it. Gratitude to Plants, the sun-facing, light-changing leaf and fine root-hairs; standing still... Continue reading

HI Sallee --
Well, thanks for still following me! Do you need to be concerned about this upcoming hurricane? I would think an earthquake is enough for one week, but we are hearing quite a bit about it over on the left coast and it got me to thinking about my friends over on your side.

5 Knitterly Things
Sheesh... it has been six weeks since I last posted! My excuse is that I am going in lots of directions, many of them outdoors and most fun. Work has been steady, but I am still only working half time for someone else, so I don't really feel like I can use that as an excuse. Getting enough com...

Congratulations! You all look great after that hard work.
Tri, tri, triathlon again!
Well, we did it! Team SOS after the race, sporting team shirts that Karen had made for us, and (by no accident) pictured in order of events: Ann (500-yard swim in 14:32), Vicki (14.3-mile bike in 1:07:41), Karen (3.1-mile run in 32:25) -- factor in transition times for a finish time of 1:56:11...
Kym, I accidentally deleted your comment instead of the spam one.. yikes! Thanks for the kind words, though.
July Gift Knitting
Does that sound incongruous? Maybe if you are a heavy-duty Christmas gift knitter; November and December would be the months when you featured posts heavy with gift knitting. Personally, I have sworn off the stress of knitting every single gift at Christmas, and pared back that sort of deadline...

And the Winner is..... Sharon!
I spent an hour on Wednesday afternoon going through all the posts, re-posts, FB mentions and likes to Nature's Cauldron's Facebook page. Whew, thank goddess I don't do Twitter! I then carefully numbered everything and turned to a little random... Continue reading

Sustainable Sunday: High Altitude Gardening
I love the high country! I spent 13 years of my life living full-time above the snow line in the Sierras, and never tire of the mountains. I do have to admit that this year's record-breaking snows in our region... Continue reading

Sallee, it is people in fixed circumstances like apartment complexes that I feel for the most! Of course you cant make many needed changes! I hope you have a good support system in your community. If your nonprofit hasnt been working on emerg prep maybe you can influence them to start, for the clients sake and yours!
Sustainable Sunday: How to Survive a Power Outage
This post is a day late because the electricity was out in the last, strong round of storms... this time for 64 hours, ending yesterday evening. We have had two other storm-related extended outages since November, one for six days and the other for four. Although we are ready with several redu...
