Knitting for UK charity: Teddies for Tragedies
I've just finished knitting my first Teddies for Tragedies bear. He'll be given to a child who needs comfort or something to love. Each bear is knitted to the same basic pattern so that no bear is 'better' than any other - as the website says: "Don't deviate from the pattern, all teddies are ...
Hi Pete - yes, I believe so!
Dale Maxey: Seeing London
All images in this post are from 'Seeing London' by Dale Maxey (c) Collins, 1966 I spent a few days in Kent last week seeing my old schoolfriend Sharry. The trip was mainly to do with my forthcoming bridesmaidly duties, but Sharry was lovely enough to give me my fix of charity shops, in Maidst...
Hi Cardsforfun0, I have heard that these bears are welcomed by ambulance crew and police officers, who may encounter distressed youngsters for whom a bear is comforting. They may also be welcome on children's wards at your local hospital, and in the visitors' area of your local prison - they can make visiting a loved one in an intimidating environment a bit less scary. They could even calm down a youngest who is reluctantly visiting the dentist!
You could also contact the charity Kids Company, who work with kids living in UK below the poverty line. Often these kids don't have anything to call their own, and a teddy may be a very welcome gift.
I hope something here is useful! Best wishes, Kristen

Call the cops - it's #StripeyFriday!
There is a small group of silly souls who make sure that every Friday, they are wearing something stripey. This dates back many years, to one Friday at the company several of us used to work for, when, quite by coincedence, a whole bunch of people turned up in stripes... and the tradition of #...

Too Dirty To Love: a Charlotte Blacker animation for Caspar Babypants
Yay! Another lovely collaboration between animator Charlotte Blacker and musician-for-kids Caspar Babypants (a.k.a. Chris Ballew from The Presidents of the United States of America). Caspar says: "Charlotte Blacker (Stompy the Bear) is back and made this little dreamy world for... Continue reading

Hi Clare - I think it's also by Jean Greenhowe, she did rag dolls as well as knitted ones. I found this magazine pullout on ebay but it doesn't identify which magazine. I would agree with Golden Hands, or maybe Women's Weekly.

Hey Cinderella
The other day, my cousin Lisa and I were tallking about our favourite childhood presents. I was saying how brilliant her mum, my Auntie Sue, was at choosing gifts - a Crayola Crayon Caddy (64 different colours!), a Fashion Wheel, and later, my first proper sketchbook and a tin of Derwent ...
