BIG news times two. First of all, I'm packing up my blog and moving to Blogger. Typepad, it's been real, but I'm too lax of a blogger to be in the big leagues. So, please, join me on blogger at! Update your readers! And I will be redirecting to my new blog within a day or two! Please be gentle in your assessment of the new blog, it's a work in progress and will evolve, I promise! And I will be leaving my typepad blog up for a bit until I move all my older posts over to... Continue reading

Do you remember this headband of yore that I made one snowy afternoon while I was supposed to be organizing and purging my fabric stash? Well, I've made a dozen different ones since then, but this color combination is still my favorite. And so I took some time away from my bad reality TV watching self, to make a duplicate one to give away to one of you! Yes you. Because you're all lovely and I have a blog crush on at least twelve of you and counting :) So, to enter for a chance to win this navy, grey... Continue reading

Originally posted at Enjoy Yourself One night President Obama and his wife Michelle decided to do something out of routine and go for a casual dinner at a restaurant that wasn’t too luxurious. When they were seated, the owner of the restaurant asked the president’s secret service if he could please speak to the First Lady in private. They obliged and Michelle had a conversation with the owner. Following this conversation President Obama asked Michelle, “Why was he so interested in talking to you.” She mentioned that in her teenage years, he had been madly in love with her. President... I'm refusing to believe that spring isn't here yet. It's April, isn't that close enough? Why the forty degree weather and hushed talk of snow flurries? I just can't take the cold and cloudy anymore, I need thoughts of summer to be here. We're one step closer though. On Saturday, we put Adam's parent's boat in the water. And luckily, Adam and I got to experience the whole thing for the first time. Walking up and down the marina full of looming tarped figures. Every few there would be one that was free of the tarp, getting painted and ready... Continue reading

Adam's cousins are busy little girls, always on the move and impossible to catch. But an afternoon of playing outside their new house resulted in a few decent shots of these adorable toddlers. It was clear traditional shots of these two were out of the question :) Continue reading

What do you give your groomsmen as a thank you for wearing monkey suits in front of a bunch of people? Remote control helicopters of course. Can you only imagine what my life has been like the last week? 'Duck Nicole!' 'Stand still, I'm going to land it on your head!' Sigh. Although I'll admit, it's fun to attempt to fly. The dog however, isn't sold on the idea. I don't think he's really figured it out yet. ***please excuse the absolute disaster our apartment is right now and my annoyingly squeaky voice*** Continue reading

The best part of every wedding? The day before. What can I say, I'm a sucker for a good mani/pedi. After a quick and productive rehearsal at Windows on the River we headed a few streets over for my other favorite pastime: great food with good friends. Megan and Chris held their rehearsal dinner at Mallorca in downtown Cleveland. The food was amazing - a blend of Spanish and Portuguese influence. And the sheer amount of food that was served was unbelievable, you would have thought we were feeding a small army. After a wonderful meal, we retired to the... Continue reading

Okay, so not a baby. More like a purse. Or a camera bag. Or both. It's a hybrid and it's fabulous! While I love my SlingShot 202 AW, it definitely isn't an everyday camera bag. Actually it kind of screams 'I have an expensive camera and lots of stuff in here'. Which is not what I want people to know when I'm out and about. So sadly, my camera stays at home for most of our adventures, which definitely does not sit well with me. But I did it. I finally saved up to buy a Jo Totes bag. And... Continue reading

I am utterly exhausted. It's Tuesday and I can barely keep my eyes open. But it's worth it, since the cause was an absolutely wonderful weekend with family and friends...oh and my bestest/NOW SIL and brother getting married! But enough words, here's some sneak peek photos courtesy of my aunt until we get the professional shots from Cavanaugh Photography (he posted a sneak peek too!) Six lovely ladies, one bachelorette, tom collins and Cleveland all make for one fabulous night out! An evening celebration of my FSIL's last few weeks as a single (well, engaged) woman was much needed. We started out with dinner at La Strada on East 4th, a Mediterranean bistro inspired by Italian, Turkish, Moroccan, Spanish and Greek kitchens. I wish I had taken a close-up photo of the food, amazing! And then headed back to our suite for some present opening. Then out for the night up and down East 4th. I simply cannot wait for this girl to marry my... Continue reading

I kept journals on and off again for years. And then started blogging, so the paper version didn't really seem to fit into my life. But blogging is somewhat censored, both in content and creativity. And then I came across Wreck This Journal. Unbelievable. You want me to spill my coffee on this? Scribble all over the cover? Jump up and down on it? SHOWER with this?! A journal filled with ridiculous prompts, instructions and suggestions with the sole purpose of destroying the journal. Liberating. Completely liberating. I'm hooked. And cannot wait to the share the after photos of this... Continue reading

It's awful. Simply awful. And while millions are donating time and money to help people affected by the disaster in Japan, I can't help but think of the loved pets that have been separated, trapped or injuried by the tsunami and earthquake. via Losing a pet is tramatizing. Losing a pet while you've already lost everything else is the end of the rope. I hope every owner has a happy ending, but to make that happen, pets need disaster relief funds too. It still amazes me that when you live somewhere, you completely disregard the 'touristy' destinations in your own city. Being in LA this past week made me realize how many places I had never seen even though I thought I had 'seen it all' since we lived in the area when I was a wee little one. But a free afternoon found me at The Getty, a place I had never explored. The museum itself is set on top of a mountainous hill with a windy path. An impressive expression of architecture combined with stunning views of LA, Santa Monica... Continue reading
