Great pictures, Kim. We're thinking of you a lot. Sam seems to follow the same routine with the hairdresser's clippers as I do. :)

Four month old puddle of scrumptious
The adorable factor is starting to go through the roof over here with our little Beatrix starting to smile up a storm. It's from this point onward that I really hit my groove in the whole parenting department. Once I have a receptive audience, I can go all night (and more often than not do). ...
Thank heavens for these video moments, so we all can enjoy Sam's growing vocabulary and wonderful laughter and smiles.
Wish we could be there to see and get involved. Miss you all.
Lots of love

Eighteen month old train enthusiast
It all began innocently enough with a set of Thomas the Tank Engine DVDs. Colin had been a big fan of the books growing up so we thought it was a nice thing to start Sam on. Fast forward a few months and we've now got a serious train lover on our hands. Not a day goes by without Sam standing ...
I just had to add a comment to show my support, Kate. It's a great topic. It struck me that the faces you had up there were of interest not in themselves but because of the companies they represent. So if you're a conference organizer, why not approach such CEOs and ask them to nominate a woman speaker from their organization who could present their corporate take on whatever is the subject of interest. Who knows the request might even send a message. :)
Is this the Face of Canadian Marketing?
I also considered titling this post "Kate Continues to Beat a Dead Horse." or "Three Guesses as to Which Canadian Marketing Conference These Guys are Keynoting at? That's right ALL OF THEM!" Actual answer - First Annual Canadian Marketing Week sponsored by Marketing Magazine. No link love b...
Well yes, you're right that you can do it with Search if you like. However I believe you should make it easy for everyone. So why not add the URL in case it floats someone's boat. Sometimes a bit of redundancy works a treat.
URL-evant?
Okay, so the post title may be a little tough to comprehend, but on Monday, a bus billboard made me question the efficiency--even the purpose--of slapping one's website URL on every marketing touchpoint. Case in point here was the aforementioned bus ad for a breakfast specialty restaurant in my...
Although I have a great respect and liking for POW! and all it stands for, I think today's message is tough for most people and businesses. Stand out or be stomped on. If you're trying to stand out from that crowd for the world in general, then that's a superhuman effort. Instead perhaps try to figure out who are the people who really would like to know about you. Then make sure you do the things that mean they find you when they come searching in the crowd for someone exactly like you.
Standing Up For Standing Out
As a follow up to the recent posts about standing out (like this one here, and this one), I came across this quote while perusing Fortune Magazine over the weekend. In an essay entitled Creativity To The Rescue, former Young & Rubicam CEO Peter Georgescu spun these words of vindication: "Commod...

The 1% Army Wants You - A Tournament of Canadian Marketing/Media Blogs
Survivor: Social Media Island meets Blogging Idol meets RSS Makeover meets The Biggest Poster. We've had 54 blogs already submitted for the 1% Army Tournament. I hesitate to call it a tournament of 64 as we have more than enough English and French Canadian marketing/media/digital blogging tal...
I'm with you 100%, Randy. However do you realize that the World Wide Web Consortium still hasn't repudiated that One Web concept. That states that a single URL should give you the content you need whatever device you may be using. I think you're in the real world. Methinks the W3C should join us all.
Why .mobi? ...
Gosh, I am SO behind-this article was written over a year ago...What do you Ethos readers think? Anyone care to weigh in on the dot mobi conversation? HT: Russell Beattie "I'll admit I've gone back and forth on my opinions of the new .mobi TLD. But I've finally made the firm decision that it...
That's a great thought, Andy, but IMHO it comes second in the 1 - 2 punch combination. The first is to get on their radar screen somehow, whether it's via a newsfeed as I use, or via a search engine. That's why Sergey and Larry won't have the time to be shining shoes any time soon. Once you're in the prospect's line of sight then Surprise is a great way to stand out from the crowd. Who knows if they like the surprise enough, then perhaps they'll even tell their friends. :)
You Will Read This Post
Ahhh, if it were only that easy, I'd be so rich right now that Bill Gates would be my secretary, and Sergey Brin (left one) and Larry Page (right one, watch the laces!) would be shining my shoes. And if it worked that flawlessly, you'd already know I am posting about Predictive Software, the n...
You're right, Kate. It's an interesting mix of blogs and a great way of finding some blogs you might have missed. Congratulations on getting into the finals. It's great to see the spotlight on Canadian blogging. :)
Canadian Blog Awards .. MNIK made the second round!
Well, some interesting news. MNIK has made the second round of voting over at the Canadian Blog Awards in the Business Blog category. They don't really have a "marketing" category, so I guess business is the next best thing. MNIK actually came in second in the first round which is awesome; ...
I certainly concur that there are some great Canadian bloggers. Perhaps I can add another blog to the list. I've started another on the Mobile Internet world, called StayGoLinks, to be found at http://www.staygolinks.com
Thanks for bringing this all together.
The French Side of Canadian Marketing/Media/PR Blogs
Little did I know that my post on the Power 50 Canadian Blogs has a predecessor in Quebec developed by Marc Snyder of emm-ess Consultants. Similar to my original list of 21 that has now expanded to 50, Marc had a preliminary list of 11 mentioned back in May 2005 that eventually grew to 50 this...
