Noodlehead bag pattern giveaway
Just this morning, I was making out a list of gifts I wanted to give to friends and realized that I'll need to get cracking at this point if I hope to hand-make presents. If you find that you've been similarly sluggish about your hand-making thus far and need some ideas, you may be pleased t...
Wonderful!! Can't wait to try it out.

Spoonflower Gift Wrap Giveaway
I have a dear friend who about this time every year begins gloating that not only does she have all her Christmas shopping done, she's made major headway wrapping everything, too. She is one crazy organized individual but perhaps with Halloween behind us, it really is time to start wrapping ...
What a great idea! The entire-wall-decals always seemed too big for me, these will be such fun to play with!

Spoonflower Wall Decal Giveaway
We're pretty thrilled to have rolled out our new wallpaper and wall decals this week and given that this giant step for Spoonflower happened only yesterday, it seems appropriate for this week's giveaway should be wall decals! If you'd like to be entered into the drawing for this week's prize ...
Great book! Would love it. :) Spoonflower name is camelama.
Sewing Made Simple book giveaway and Famous Frocks winner
This week's giveaway is for another beautiful sewing title from Chronicle Books. Tessa Everlegh's Sewing Made Simple is one of those books we'd really like to hold onto ourselves at the Spoonflower office. It's geared towards the sewing beginner and, while some of us are past needing a sewin...

Gingher 7-1/2-Inch Pinking Shears, 8-Inch Knife Edge Dressmaker's Shears & 4-Inch Featherweight Thread Clippers We're big fans of quality sewing tools around here. There's nothing more ruinous to the happy experience of creating something you're excited about than working with shoddy tools --...
I need new pins/pincushion! All my pins are dull and - to my shame - bent from being sewn over. Oops. I can hear my grandma up in heaven yelling at me "TAKE THE PINS OUT BEFORE YOU SEW OVER THEM!" Heh. Sorry, Grandma, I'm lazy! :)
Merchant & Mills sewing notions giveaway and Rashida Coleman-Hale giveaway winner
Back when I was learning how to bake in a professional kitchen, I had a chef say to me, "A good chef never blames the equipment for her mistakes." I agree with her that solid skills can usually overcome any deficiency in the equipment you might have to work with but on the other hand, don't h...

WhimseyBox giveaway and craft business book winner
To me, one of the unexpected benefits of Stephen having started Spoonflower is that he is now well-versed in all things crafty and sewing-related. If not actually a practicing member of the sewing obsessed tribe himself, he is fluent in the language and customs. This is mighty handy around gif...

My latest sewing inspirations are the gray windy winter ocean beaches - driftwood, rounded pebbles, tidepools, orcas, and cold rain and wind! And hot cocoa when you get home and put on warm dry clothes and slippers.

Little Leopard Cub Meets the Snow
A critically endangered Amur Leopard cub, born at the Saint Louis Zoo on October 8, 2010 made her public debut last week and proved quite adventurous. The little female, Anastasia, has been with her mother, Mona, in a maternity den for the past three months. Now she can explore trees, rocks an...

Holey smokes it's giveaway day!
This past weekend was completely craftily insane... I had a LOT of project deadlines! What to do...? As RonChops and I were having breakfast (with several potential project elements on the table... there were unfinished boxes, spools, flowers and ribbon nestled amongst the bacon and eggs...)...

I really like fulfilling book requests ... I was able to buy a classroom a set of the Little House books by Laura Ingalls, and it just tickled me to think of them enjoying the books that I enjoyed so much. It's addictive, fulfilling projects there!!
Tis the Season to Give (and win!)
Your very special TypePad Support team has decided to donate what they can to Heifer, a nonprofit organization that aligns its work and efforts with that of the well-known "give a man a fish...teach a man to fish" proverb. If you're not familiar with Heifer, here's an excerpt from the organizati...
My favorite charity is http://www.DonorsChoose.org - I get to send my money directly to a classroom, and help students learn! I know exactly what my money is doing, where it's helping, and how it's being used. I love this! I think my favorite donation so far was sending inner-city kids on a field trip into the mountains to learn about geology and geography ... the photos of them out in the woods, ecstatic and full of wonder, made me cry - the kids were SO HAPPY. Some of them had never left the city ever before, they had no idea what a "forest" was, or what mountains looked like, or how incredible the air up there can smell and feel.

Awwww, how adorable!
My favorite Christmas carol right now is "Hacia Belen va un borrico", a Spanish carol about a burro. I play it over and over! Favorite from childhood was an old Swedish record that Mom had - wish I could find it in MP3/CD format now!
Hooray it's Giveaway Day!
This is Frosty the little rag-cat snowman. He's made out of soft, snowy white velvet and stuffed with rags and polyfill. His eyes are little buttons, his nose is made with carrot orange thread and he has three coal black buttons down his front. Frosty wears a plaid flannel scarf around his n...

Recovering from SNOMG (Seattle snow, Nov 2010)
Seattle had been in a deep freeze for the week of Thanksgiving. Monday evening's commute, which was after a heavy snowfall, melt, and re-freeze to record lows, was INSANE. People's bus commutes that normally take 30 minutes took 3 hours.... Continue reading
