The gift you are promising is certainly not free it is conditional or contractual arrangement equal to an pledge or oath.
Webster says it best:
Definition of PLEDGE
2b : something given as security for the performance of an act
3: a token, sign, or earnest of something else
6a : a binding promise or agreement to do or forbear b (1) : a promise to join a fraternity, sorority, or secret society (2) : a person who has so promised
Definition 3 sounds like what you are describing. This is like the Lost Uncle or unscrupulous family member who always has clauses and amendments to the "so called" free gift. By the time you receive it it is neither free or a gift!
