Children often form a bond with the older generation. Here in my Japanese family, the youngest (now 9) members best friend is his grandfather.

This looks lower so you can easily get in and out of the driver's seat. All in all, didn't you have quite a good outing?
My parents were stand-in-grandparents to two kids whose own grandparents ignored them. These kids are now adults and talk so fondly of my Mum and Dad. Friends are the best treasures!

I hope you can enjoy the memory of your friend without the Black Spore Curse.

Your sashiko stitches are so even which makes the design so striking.

Well, at least you have children that help you even if it is in their own way! How would you have managed without them? What is it that they say, Chill out, Mum? Go and stitch some Kogin patterns!

I can understand how you can manage to joggle everything in life!

That sounds like a good solution.

Who wouldn't want to keep the smartphone in such a charming case? How about embroidery on one side of a rectangle, then you only need to fold the fabric and stitch bottom and ONE side seam. I can't help you with the pinch frame, though. Sorry.

There is so much we ought to be grateful for. My friend Tanya wrote about doughnuts; instead of crying over the hole in the middle we should enjoy the ring! I hope I will have a positive attitude from now on until I reach my 109th year! Love, Queenie

It's looking very stylish! I MAN'S vehicle, I'd say. Won't the dealer be able to attach a step underneath the body of the car (below the door), like you find on lorries?

Just reading this makes me shudder. I will stay in safe Tokyo, thank you!!!

There are so many TAST stitches I need to review and learn to identify.

Haven't you chosen a WILD island full of wild life to live on? I hope this will keep both you and your husband fit and alert. Is it safe to go swimming? What would you do if you went fishing and caught a shark?

Palestrina, eh? I have to take out my TAST reference chart and start rehearsing the stitches!!!

They are such delightful designs, and of course you could make the polar bear in running stitch and the cat in coral stitch (it isn't scroll stitch, is it?)

Because you have stitched on a light fabric, and there is only one frame and not such dense stitching, these all look so light and summery. I hope it is a sign that the future will be bright and positive, too.
Here's to a bright future for you all!

Although the women who first made these kogin patterns did not sit waiting outside an operation theatre I am sure they had other of life's hardship to 'flee' from. What better way than stitching? You know that I am always looking for faces in these patterns. Here I can see three in the left side column. Is # 676 turned the right way? A mirror image would have been the mark for a Japanese Buddhist temple... I wish your husband a speedy and safe recovery.

Dear Carolyn, You have certainly had a dramatic week! I am so glad to hear your husband's surgery went well, and you told me he is a strong guy, so let's hope he can recover steadily. I hope the house you are buying has not suffered any damage in the storm and that the ferry service will soon be back to normal. As for having house guests in April, well, your husband's , and your health and well-being come before anything. Let everything take the time it needs.

The thimble is a beautiful gift, but so is the friendship. You are blessed with a good and generous friend.

Both places are surrounded by green, it is the absence of cars and the presence of squashed pythons that are the greatest differences? As sewing means so much to you, you should claim a larger area. Could you build an extension with a separate sewing studio? Could you find storage for your stash and the things not used on a daily bases in another room? Will your husband have a workroom?

As soon as I read that your blogpost is about new patterns I put on my kogin glasses and there those faces are!

I shudder when I read about the dog eating pythons! You certainly have put a lot of work into your plot and hope the bush garden will be a snake free delight. What a pity that your dreams of the new house will come to nothing, but I am sure you will make the most of the home you have a contract for. You are such a creative person and it will be the jewel of the island before in your hands.
