As loopy as this particular law is, if you google "no knock raid shot police" you will find any number of stories about cops raiding the wrong house and either killing an innocent person, or having a cop get shot and then they want to try the shooter for murder (when for all that person knew they were defending themselves against a home invasion). Cory May was one of the first/best examples: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/tag/cory-maye/ The whole point of no-knock raids is to take the suspect by surprise, but at the same time they expect the suspect to instantly know they're cops and submit appropriately. It's a freakin' horrible tactic that has no place in a civilized society. I'm not saying laws like this are the answer (I'd prefer they pass laws restricting certain police tactics), but to a degree I understand where they're coming from.
