I feel the joy. I also feel dizzy! That's amazing.
The Joy In It
Brian has come home for the summer. Not only did he bring an enormous pile of laundry (impressive; really), but he also brought loud sub-woofers, video games, the detritus of college life, and this. . . This video, created by Brian and his best longboarding buds, is much more than a video show...
Excellent twist on this topic and I love your list. I knew, I just knew, that you'd have Young Frankenstein and The Holy Grail, too. I love Smokey and the Bandit as well!
A Family Affair
This week for Ten on Tuesday, Carole has us . . . in stitches! (But not knits and purls.) This week, we're talking comedy. Laughter is best shared, I think, so I shared this topic with my family. I asked each of them to share their favorite comedy movie. Here's our list . . . a Family Comp...
There's more behind you than in front of you - you can do this!
The Restorative Power of Soil: A Riff
The Festival continues. We're in the home stretch now; I can see the end. But there are still details to manage and vehicles to maintain and shuttles to run. And rain in the forecast. Which makes me nervous from a flights-on-time standpoint. (But I'm trying to just ignore that right now.) For...
I hope you'll stick with it. And yes, I hear you on the bad stuff, I do it, too. Is there anything I can do to support you and make any of this easier?
More Macros
i have to admit that shooting these macros havve been more of an effort than i had hoped. weird how that is, that something -- photography -- that i've loved for so long has me feeling meh about it. but it's an exercise that i think is important for me to complete. i feel very undiscplined late...
I'm using my macro lens and loving it!
Eye Candy Friday -- Macro May 2012
the house renovation has had me distracted but i did manage to take a few macros over the course of the past few days. i'm using my 35mm 1.8 lens with macro filters over it. and if you've missed the may 1 start, that's ok. start today!
Dixie, like Jenny, will eat anything. She doesn't like tomatoes, though, and will eat completely around them if they are in something she happens to, ummm, come across. I haven't ever given her sweet potatoes but I'm going to try that out now!
Sweets. . . for the Sweet
Labs will eat pretty much anything. And, while Jenny is not a pure-bred, her looks and tendencies run toward the lab in her gene pool. When she was a puppy, we discovered that Jenny, truly, will eat (or attempt to eat) anything. She loves all the things you would assume dogs would like: chic...
It looks terrific! What a wonderful transformation. Coming home must fill you with joy now.
My House Redo Day 6
remember where we were less than a week ago? well here is where we are today. SHE IS DONE BITCHES! there are light fixtures to pick out and install and a new front stoop and walkway, etc. but that's chicken shit as my father says. (or mickey mouse he'll say too. as a synonym for nothing or tr...
That is so awesome - what a great experience to observe!
Inside View
A few weeks ago, I told you about the dead Christmas wreath on my front door . . . home to some nesting purple finches. If we stand on a stepstool inside the front door and stand on tiptoe and tip our heads just so. . . we can watch the action in the nest from inside. It's a pretty good view. ...
Sounds like an amazing trip you've got coming up! And Fox on the Run? When Dale and I were dating and Hannah was 3 she loved that song. I have no idea where she learned it but she was SO impressed when he played it for her on his stereo.
Speaking of Bulletin Boards
I generally like to wrap up a month with a "Right Now" post. That didn't happen in April. Because I am completely caught up in the "right now." But blog-post timing doesn't really matter, does it? Here's what's going on in my life . . . RIGHT NOW. Watching . . . time fly; sometimes too ...
Your bulletin boards sound so useful. I think I just stick stuff on mine because it's there but I wouldn't care if it wasn't there either.
Pin-Up Girl
When it comes to keeping track of things. . . I'm a pin-up girl! I love bulletin boards, and I make good use of them all over my house. Not only do they help me keep track of little bits of things . . . the flotsam and jetsam of my life. . . but they also serve to inspire with visual reminde...
I hope everything is going well. Have fun backstage - will Elvis Costello be there???
Coming Up for Air. . .
A little soundtrack. . . My life is full right now. Of schedules and logistics and fires to put out. But, there are perks sometimes. That's a backstage pass up there. Oh, yeah.
I'm so glad we're doing Macro May again!
Just a Reminder
another rut i need a good kick in the pants to get out of is my photography rut. i haven't touched the nikon in weeks, using my iphone instead as my primary camera. so the timing could not be better to push me out of my laziness (because not using the nikon is really me being lazy). tomorrow is ...
It always amazes me how quickly a new roof can get done. Can't wait to see what comes next!
Eye Candy Friday - My House Redo Day 1
the roofing crew showed up bright and early this morning, slightly lost because IF YOU CAN BELIEVE IT we don't have a house number (or we do but it was lost in masses of debris). of course, our house is also the only one covered in paper on the street. the driver took a guess. i would just like...

Before!!!!!

So cute! And hey, you and Tom plant just like Dale and I plant. Hooray.
Digging for Grubs
The summer that Jenny was a puppy, my garden really took a hit. Oh, she was adorable and all (which was a Good Thing for her), but she mashed my daylilies flat. She leaped through my hostas. She dug out anything new I planted. . . and dragged it through the yard. She was always, always roo...
YES to all of those things. I do love my own bed but when we travel we have the treat of a king sized bed and I really enjoy that.

I think I would be overwhelmed by all those perennials. Unless, of course, I went with you because then you would tell me just what to buy!
Road Trip!
When most people think of Michigan. . . they think of cars. And, sure. There is that. But. . . Southwest Michigan is more famous for being the Bedding Plant Capital of the World! And, what does that mean for me? Why, it means I'm in Fat City when it comes to high-quality plant material! It...
