I love papercrafts but have to be in the mood and its especially rare for me to actually make two in one sitting! But I did :) and it was for the March Colour Theme on Tando Creative! For this one I used Tando Stencil - Stripes.....and I am using up some embellishments which I have had for ages. This is the colour scheme brief which we had: The background on this card is created using Tando stencil - Tangled Yarn, and I gave this to my Mum on Mothers Day. You can take part on the Monthly Challenges on... Continue reading

I had a 50th birthday at the end of last year and didn't have a clue what to get, so I decided to make a 50th canvas! This started life as a plain canvas, approx. 8" x 11". Using a couple of Tando Creative stencils - Diamond Circles and Stripes - and some texture paste (I used Viva Decor Terra) I created a random pattern for the background of the design. I deliberately used a darker texture colour so that it would stand out a little under the coats of paint. I gradually added layers of chipboard cogs around a... Continue reading

There is a colour challenge on Tando Creative Blog each month and its a colour challenge, so you can make anything incorporating the colours. This months colours are muted pastels... I used a Tando stencil for the background - Splatters, and some Distress Ink. The flowers were die cut and then doodled around. And for once I didn't sew on the card! Felt a bit strange not sewing round the edges but I quite liked the simplicity of it as it was. And it was quicker. Which is good. :) Fancy the challenge? Pop along to the Tando Blog and... I've been having a play with a face mask, paint and a stencil! This took a bit of time and a bit of patience to get right but I do like the effect with the stencil and Viva Decor Ferro. I used the Tando Creative Andy Skinner stencil-Sunburst. As the mask is curved to fit the face, I had to apply the Viva Decor in stages. I did try applying it in one sitting but made a bit of a mess with the stencil moving, so started again and did it bit by bit. Its not perfect, but I'm quite... Continue reading

With Christmas and beyond in mind I've been decorating some plain wooden pots in a shabby chic style. These were plain wooden pots which I sanded down and then painted with Annie Sloan chalk paint and then decorated with snowflakes, reindeer, leaves, stars and more. Some were wooden shapes and some were Tando chipboard shapes. If you are local to Worcester then you can see some designs available at the little flower shop in Astwood Road - BW Flowers. Spring Leaves and Stars... and Snowflakes... All it needs is a little plant and it's great for a gift or to... Continue reading

I've actually made a Christmas card. Well two actually but not so happy about one of them. The background on this one is made using the Joined Snowflakes Tando Creative stencil and the gorgeously glittery snowflake is die-cut, as is the 'merry'. Every year I try and be a bit more ahead of myself and each year I am here in November annoyed at myself for not having made a start and mithering at how busy the next few weeks are going to be with me wanting to make EVERYTHING for the festive season. Realistically I am not going to... Continue reading

Last weeks theme for the Tando Creative DT was Black and White with a splash of Colour! I decorated this large peg and even though there may not be much colour added there is a little red around the edges. The design was stencilled using the Tando Creative Long Flourish mask and the 'Notes' was stamped. I then added some magnet strip to the back so I can attach it to my tall freezer. Super quick and easy! Continue reading

For this weeks Free For All theme for the Tando Creative DT I made a 21st birthday card! To create that random spotty background I used the Tando Creative Mask - Tree and Leaves! Great value mask - 3 in 1!! There are three parts to this mask set and I used the spotty part which, if used for the tree, would depict apples or blossom. But great for a random spotty design! I used Distress Ink-Broken China for the blue dots, and added an embellishment cluster of Prima flowers around the very glittery number 21. Continue reading

This months challenge for the Tando Creative Challenges blog is 'Cold As Ice', so I made upcycled a paint tin into a handy container with a Christmas theme. I sprayed the can with some paint spray suitable for using on metal. I found some sprays in my shed when I was clearing it out during the summer so I made the most of what I had and used this lovely creamy colour. Snowflake I then attached the Tando Creative Mask-Snowflake with masking tape to the tin and covered it in Viva Decor Terra. Now, in hindsight I should perhaps have... Continue reading

The theme last week for the DT on Tando Creative was Black and Orange. It was my daughters birthday on 9 October and so I made her a birthday card and incorporated the DT theme at the same time! I used Tando Creative Ink Splatters mask for the background of the card, and Tando Creative chipboard dragonfly for the embellishment. Ink Splatters Using the mask I inked black onto the card first, and then moved the mask slightly to add the orange just away from the black. The chipboard dragonfly was inked with orange, and I then added Sepia Glossy... Continue reading

The Tando DT theme this week is Inchies! I have made a Wrist Wrap with this theme in mind... I used some stenciled canvas which I had left over from the Love Canvas which I created for the Tando DT Dominoes theme. This canvas was stenciled with the Tando Creative Harlequin mask with Versacraft Fabric Ink and then I sewed through the design. I then cut some inch squares for the inchies. I added the inchies to a denim strap, and decorated each inchie with beads, buttons and bits. And this is my daughter modelling the wrist wrap... Continue reading

The theme for the Tando Creative DT this week is Autumn Colours. I love Autumn. It's my favourite season where its usually decent weather, not too hot and not too cold, and the foliage changes and you get to see some glorious colours in nature. And I also celebrate my birthday in October! Although maybe not too much celebrating the older I get, haha. Anyway, I've had a little pack of hardboard canvases forever and a day and I finally cracked open the packaging and worked with one! The Tando Tree and Leaves stencil by Kaz Boughton was ideal for... Here is a tutorial for a fabric stencilled phonecase which I made for this month's challenge on Tando Creative Challenges blog! My leather phonecase is a bit battered now and so I thought I'd have a go at making a fabric case, making full use of my many scraps of fabric and incorporating some stenciling. This case fits my iPhone 4G but you may need to adjust the measurements to suit your size phone, of course! Its going to have to be a whopper of a case for the new iPhone 6 by all accounts though! Materials: two strips of... Continue reading

Fancy something healthy?! Then try this gorgeously green Spinach Pesto Pasta. This is a gorgeously healthy recipe which I found on rachelscraftcorner, and I've adapted it slightly to feed five as opposed to the recipe which was for one, and I also added extra spinach. Ingredients: 500g penne pasta, cooked a la dente 250ml chicken broth 250ml milk 250g spinach or more One tbsp cornflour 150g pesto Salt, pepper, garlic, and parsley to taste Dash cayenne pepper, optional 50g cheese, Parmesan or Cheddar Method: Cook pasta. In a food processor or blender, combine chicken broth, milk, spinach, cornflour, pesto, and... Continue reading

My son went back to Uni this week and as a parting treat I made a rich Devil's Food Chocolate Cake which I decorated using a Tando Creative stencil and icing sugar on the top. Such a simple thing to do but it does look fab! Tando Creative do a couple of larger stencils which are ideal to decorate a basic 8" cake - I used the Andy Skinner-Sunburst mask but you could also use the Andy Skinner-Tornado or maybe the Giovanna-8" Doilie. Sunburst Lots of the other masks would do it too, depends on what design you would like... Continue reading

This weeks theme for the Tando Creative DT is 'Tag It!'. I love playing with fabric so made a fabric tag with canvas. I cut out a tag shape and sewed a zig-zag stitch all the way around. I then applied some Fray Check to stop it fraying as canvas can fray quite quickly. I decorated the blank canvas firstly by using a spray mist in green and orange. Then, using Tando Creative masks - Sequin Waste and Baroque and Versamagic Ink Pads in Cherry Pink and Spring Green, I randomly added the spots and part of the Baroque pattern... Continue reading

The theme for the Tando Creative DT this week is Black and Purple. I seem to have quite a collection of plain white gift boxes so I decorated one of those! I used the Random Circles mask together with Viva Decor 3d Glitter Gel to create this raised effect on the box and lid. So quick and easy to do. Random Circles Just apply the gel over the mask and lift away. Leave to dry, preferably overnight. I did this to the lid and to the sides of the box. I then added some black glitter washi tape around the... Continue reading

This months theme on Tando Creative Challenges is 'Lovely Layers'. I made a cushion which is layered with fabric, ribbon, lace, applique, beads, buttons, tassels, flowers, stitching, ink, etc. I pieced together the front of the cushion using scraps of materials and fitted them together to make the square. I backed the whole piece with some wadding to make it more stable and to help with the free-motion stitching and a few bits of applique. The cushion was made to fit a 14"x14" feather-filled cushion pad. I added bits of lace and ribbon and sewed on some buttons and beads... Continue reading

This weeks theme on the Tando Creative DT is 'Dominoes'. I thought right outside the box here and decorated a canvas with fabric pieces the same size as a domino - 2"x1"! I cut long strips of canvas two inches wide and then decorated them using Tando Creative's Harlequin mask and Versacraft ink. I then sewed each blank line created by the stencil, and cut into one inch lengths to create the separate dominoes. I stitched each one onto an 8"x8" piece of canvas and added the 'love' sentiment which was stamped and then chain stitched before adding to the... Continue reading

When British Strawberries are in season don't buy jam....make your own! Last year was the first time I had made jam and I wish I had started earlier in the year to take advantage of the summer fruits, but I didn't think about it until the very end of the strawberry season. Anyway, when I saw an offer on at the local garden centre for a large pan I thought I would give it a go. It was a learning curve for me though and at first it was too runny and wouldn't set...I was ready to give up and... Continue reading

This weeks Tando DT theme is Pretty in Pink and I decorated a hanging wooden heart. This home decor item started off as plain wooden hearts. I painted each heart pink with Annie Sloan chalk paint, then painted over the pink with white chalk paint. I then rubbed the hearts with sandpaper to take some of the white paint off so you can see some of the pink underneath. I then used the Tando Creative Cogs Group mask on the hearts with Viva Decor Ferro Iron paste and left to dry for a while. This created a nice raised effect... Continue reading

I have a thing for lemons lately, absolutely love them. This is a truly gorgeous cake, very dense and moist, and definately on my 'will do again' list. Its a recipe from the Peyton and Byrne British Baking book which has a lot of very doable recipes of quintessentially British puds and bakes. Ingredients: 125g unsalted butter, softenend, plus extra for greasing 125g caster sugar 125g ground almonds 3 eggs 3tbsp milk Zest and juice of two lemons half tsp pure vanilla extract 125g fine semolina flour 1 tsp baking powder Icing sugar for dusting Method: Preheat the oven to...
