From several of the blogs I have been reading on teaching students with special needs, I have been seeing them sharing their schedule. For those of you who work in a classroom setting with students with these exceptionalities, schedules are great - just know they are flexible. Presently, there are two who are non ambulatory and use pediatric wheelchair/strollers as their means of transportation. What that means is that their wheelchair is not one where we can actually teach them to wheel the chair themselves. Here is an example of one: Not all children who are in wheelchairs are able to work on being independent at a young age - others are. When getting a wheelchair at this young of an age, sometimes we know that the child will eventually walk. Others we know will always use a wheelchair as their means of mobility. The last few... I have been reading a few blogs in which teachers who are working with special populations are posting ideas and resources. So I thought I might do the same to share what I do, and hopefully to be able to make me a better teacher. I have been teaching preschoolers with special needs now for fifteen years. I have two paraprofessionals who work in the classroom and then have others who work with the students in related services - speech, occupational, and physical therapy.
