Ahhh what to get, what to get, for that special person who you never know what to buy for. For me, handmade and personal is always the way to go whether they are close friends or not so close friends. Well family, it goes without saying - of course handmade. So to help you with your shopping list I'm suggesting these very personal handmade gifts: (all made by me - of course ; ) What better personal gift for the women on your list: "Celebrate life... You are worth it" Need I say more? Or this one - be reminded:... Continue reading

I have a bunch of things I've been working on - none of them quite finished but I thought I'd share some of them here. First up tags, tags, tags Once I start on these I just can't stop - they'll be making their way into the shop as I finish them ... Some are small and some are really large These are so much fun to do - and simple when you use washi tape and a few words here and there I still keep drawing my girls here and there They are my meditation after a long days... I had to share a few more pieces I did this week. They are now in the shop! Now I'm working on new tags - like these I've done in the past And these which I did years ago but I came across them in my pictures file and was inspired to make more. Where did all this creative energy come from! I'm just glad it's here. Head over to the shop to see more pictures of the cradled panels. Continue reading

In my last post I mentioned that I was re-using my girl sketches - upcycling, recycling, reusing. - and I have finally finished a few pieces. I'm really happy with these and I always feel better when I actually "do" something with the work I do in my sketchbooks - I want to share that work with the "world" - okay maybe that's a bit of a stretch but you know what I mean. So I finished a few pieces and still working on more but if you want to see these up close you better get to my shop... Continue reading
I know! They are so fun to do and each time I start one they turn out with different attitudes!

For those of you who follow me on facebook or instagram you may have seen some of these but I thought I would post how much fun I have been having doing these girls. These were all inspired by Jenny Walton who you can find on instagram here. I am not sure what she does for a living but it sure looks fun! This it's a good example of how you can use someone's style to help define what your style is. In my first sketches, mine were very much like the inspiration drawings I was using but then things... I have been doing a lot, and I mean a lot of drawing in my sketchbooks these days. Along the way I learned a few things and I thought I would save you the time and let you in on some of the discoveries that helped me to become a better sketcher! So here are 5 things I've learned to improve my drawing skills. Use a reference photo The difference in the quality of your drawings will be huge if you start with a reference photo. I was always afraid that by using a reference photo I was copying someone... Continue reading

The girls are back. I created these stamps a couple of years ago and waited to see if there was still demand before having them reprinted. Well as things go it was quiet for a while and then all of a sudden I started gettting requests for (of course) the ones I no longer had it stock. So - I had a new batch printed up and they are as cute and fun as they first were when I first made them. Cute packaging right? When I receive them they are all on 1 polymer sheet. I cut them out... Back on the journaling mania - I just can't stop - it's my nightly meditation. All in this journal - a Stillman and Birn which I love - only I find there are not enough pages in it. I used the Zeta since it is good stiff paper that stands up to most water, paint, marker etc. I also didn't love the black cover so I had to "shush" it up a bit. Can ya tell I like the flower thing The original is below - the one above has a filter applied but I love it that way even... Continue reading
Hi Kris, Of course I know you've taken a lot of my classes - how have you been? I'm posting even more journal pages this week and hope to have some news about the class in a couple of weeks.

The last time we spoke I was knee deep in journaling. Well I still am and there is more coming on that in a next post. One day last week I went in to my art room and was just inspired by all the stuff in there. I made some pieces on my wood blocks - houses of course. I haven't made these in a little while and almost forgot how. But of course they came together - like riding a bike ; ) These are now in the shop - here and here. I've been dying to use the... The others are full too - but that;s for another day ; ) Here we go Lots of random shapes - its mindless but fun I used stickers and washi tape to provide my inspiration At some points its hard to tell which is washi and which is my drawing This one below is collaged papers for the flowers - just floral paper cut out... I am loving my latest sketchbook - the one I work in everyday. I added a coat of clear gesso since the pages were thin but what it does of course is makes my the pigments from the Mach 3 pens just glide across the page when I add water. (Don't worry I'll make the announcement soon) Been back into drawing houses again lately. Oh and some other things - random things - (yes, yes I know, you want to know the winnerS) I thought the picture below was fitting for announcing the winner winnerS of: Secrets 2013 and 2014... I have been busy in the studio these days making these index cards. The last batch I made sold out in 1 day!! These cards are a relaxing way for me to be creative without too much effort. (The longest part is dying the papers). I pull out all my fabric, my bits and bobs, my favorite papers and away I go. All in the shop (AND MORE) right now. I also added some vintage book papers - I used to make a lot of these and include them in my paper kits (oops I dropped the hint - yes... Continue reading

I'm really often more interested in the process than in the getting there. This is true of almost anything I create. My latest project is a good example of this. I was looking for something unique to sort out all my costume jewelry (none of it is gold - it's just fun stuff) since I am always wearing the same earrings because I can't find all the new ones I bought. So I started looking on pinterest for ideas on DIY jewelry organizers. What I came across other than the already, well known diy ideas, you know - a frame... Continue reading
