I wish I had something to offer to make the ride operator stop. All I can tell you is: I have every confidence that you will see this through, and you and yours will be the better for it. Here's hoping for a fast, smooth 40 days. And the rest of the term for baby equally smooth.

Gorgeous!! Of course, my much-better-half's hair goes from blond to a shade close to your new color as the seasons change, so I am not as shocked to the change in your color. Let me put it simply: while I like it, how much do YOU like it?

For what my 2 cents is worth (in this economy, probably not even that much)... I understand where you're coming from with regards to blogging. Check my humble blog and see I haven't made more than a dozen posts all year. I get it. I get you have loads of things to do each week. And while I can't possibly know what you're going through with stress and recovery, etc., I get how busy you are. All that said: yes, I would notice if you ceased blogging. I would care. And that's because I've come to know you through your blog. Occupation hazard, you know? But I'll back whatever you decide to do.

Some people's lives are so barren of anything positive that they manufacture self-worth by finding something to bash about others. Ignoring these kinds of people tends to annoy the crap out of them. The person will flame and flame until no one pays any more attention. Sort of like a child throwing a tantrum. As for the school bus, I once put my car in park and walked up to a parked school bus, one with no kids anywhere near it, but with red flashers on. The driver was having a smoke and said 'Oh, sorry.' Now had I passed him, I would have be subject to a ticket. But the driver??? I wonder if *he* can get a ticket for holding up traffic. I have a plaque on my desk: Illegitimi Non Carborundum - Don't let the bastards get you down!

I submit what you are going through - and please do not think I am at all capable of knowing even remotely what your situation is beyond your posts - is probably normal. I believe your reaction is completely normal as well - you are an athlete who has been down this road (PT) before and is looking to reach the end of it immediately. Reach out to your friend, the PT who helped you through it previously. Your friend knows the before 'you' - the 'silly girl crying' (for reasons not at all silly, IMHO) and he knows the triumphant you who left 8 months later. If he cannot be your therapy PT, he can at least offer sage words to help you over this hump. You know you will get there. You know it will be rough. Trust yourself; really, has she ever let you down before?

I believe it was Kipling who said 'if you can keep your head while all about you are losing theirs, you've obviously not checked your inbox.' Hmmm, maybe it was Hawkeye Pierce?

I'll be so close (geographically speaking: I work in eastern NJ, very close to NYC) but as usual won't make any public appearance under my pen name. But I am glad to know you'll be near by! Please, by all means, blog about the event. I live vicariously through other people's conference trips!

{I feel so far from the person I was on that day, just a little over a year ago. It feels like I'll never be back there sometimes. } Pardon me, but I am compelled to sum up your post with a succinct 'nonsense'. You did not work as hard as you did to achieve your Black Belt simply to have craptastic luck erase it all. You will recover, and you will climb back. You found it in yourself to achieve your rank, and that spirit is not gone -- perhaps it is a bit overwhelmed, but it is part of YOU. Mark my words.

My much-better-half is often reminded by others of a quote attributed to Mother Teresa: I know God will not give me anything I can't handle. I just wish that He didn't trust me so much. My MBH never tires of the underlying sentiment offered by those who echo this, but is growing weary of hearing it. To that end I hope your days soon get brighter for you.

I applaud the plan and your results! Any activity that promotes critical thinking is always worth pursuing. And your rewards are likely the things you will cherish forever, and deservedly so. I am concerned, however, what my kids - specifically the 14 year old - may have done with that assignment: my family has never lasted more than 10 minutes watching American Idol. Ever. Perhaps my sons have seen more, but they've never followed it like so many pothers have. We're just not into that show at all. Judging by the ratings it would seem we're in the minority, of course. But I am interested if any of your students (besides possibly that one girl) have never watched the program.

While the members of the Armed Forces are indeed under stress, there is plenty already reported in the media that this particular incident may well have little to do with stress.

Our 13 year old son still does a poor job at brushing his teeth, but as his birthday is this week, he's suddenly starting to take interest in his grooming (including oral care). As for his 6 year old brother, he's only starting to brush on his own, since he became accustomed to having them brushed for him. He seems to do speed through it, so I am hoping we can persuade him to do it better than his brother has to date.

"I'm going to lose." I read that line and one thought crossed my mind: could these words have come from the same gal who just earned her Black Belt? The same gal who recovered from a particularly painful injury *and* earned that Belt? (shall I go on?) Keep another thought in mind: just 2 yeras ago, probably the only people who had ever heard the name 'Barack Obama' were Chicago voters and die-hard political geeks (like me). And he had a lot more voters to court than you'll have!

Even though I've been invited by several of this years attendees, I wouldn't be able to work the logistics. That being said, I know a bunch of rowdy respectable ladies who will be there, and who would welcome you with open arms. (and yeah, I'd wear the gi, at least to one of the gatherings!)
