A brass plaque at the Lincolnwood Centennial Park, at the immigrant monument at the corner of Pratt and McCormick, has a 2014 plaque with Bruce and Diana Rauner, immortalized, as major contributors to the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society (HIAS). The HIAS is a constituent member of the state's chief illegal alien lobby, the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights: http://chicagolampoon.blogspot.com/2014/08/rauner-major-donor-to-illegal-alien.html http://hiaschicago.org/advocacy/ Enough said?

And why are all these fine Catholic conservatives still sending their children to De Paul Academy (the former Gordon Tech) and Loyola Academy and all these other left-wing Social Justice warrior neo-Marxist enclaves - that hide under the Catholic rubric? As a graduate of the latter - it makes me sick!

Benedict Arnold, Rick Newton, trying to explain why he should not be personna non grata on this board - or anywhere else in Illinois conservative politics. What a bad joke.

Thank you for saving that link. That Rick Newton person shouldn't be allowed to show his face in public - much less post an opinion in a conservative public forum! What a creep!

What is truly egregious is that this tax includes Bloody Mary Mixers, most of which contain a small amount of fructose. Glad that the health control experts on the Cook County Bd. are vigilant in protecting me from the tiny amt. of sugar that would poison me, when mixed with 4 parts vodka.

Frankly - the above quoted paragraphs were among the least moving of President Trump's astounding address -- you quoted, the portions that were rather dull, run-of-the-mill boilerplate. Trump actually surpassed, even Ronald Reagan, in his rhetorical condemnation of socialism and his indictments of the rogue regimes in Iran and North Korea. There is panic today at CNN, MSNBC and at capitols in Europe and throughout the world. Would have been nice if you had quoted the Reaganesque paragraphs that were so moving -- and so entirely newsworthy.

Get real. The Republican Party is a joke. We now have to look to alternatives to voting.

I once (i.e 1x) dated the head of the IVI-IPO who had just run against Little Luis as an independent. She was an insufferable leftist - but would have been a veritable Thomas Jefferson compared to this cheap demagogue. He is one of the only - if not the only - Puerto Rican in Congress. And if he had an ounce of goodwill and decency, he would be organizing relief efforts for the victims of Hurricane Irma down there. But no! - in Gutierrez's sick little world - immigration demagoguery and local leftist political opportunism trumps basic human decency.

I heard that "The Thing" from the Addams Family may be available - and it is a registered Chicago Democrat.

This elected representative also called for extra-legal mob action in the streets in response to the DACA executive rescinding order. That comes perilously close to treason.

Agreed. Kinzinger has become the poster boy for the increasing irrelevance of the IL GOP to conservative/populist voters. I'm eagerly awaiting Peter Roskam's forthcoming, predictably wishy/washy position - we're all ears, Peter.

Daniel Biss' political tin ear regarding his running mate picks is the very least of his problems. I met this left-wing guy on the Evanston Metra platform when he was collecting signatures - and believe me - HE HAS ABSOLUTELY NO PERSONALITY! Later saw him on Channel 11 and he has no public speaking ability either. He emits all the warmth of a 40 watt light bulb and all the charisma of a cabbage. His family money got him this far - but he has already far surpassed the level of his incompetence. You needn't worry about ever seing a Governor Biss.

Angela Merkel - the highly destructive, former Stassi, Chancellor of Germany - is far more a threat to the USA than is Vladimir Putin. A US/Russian alliance would be far more beneficial to the future of Christendom, than anything imaginable. Do notice that Putin's Russia was destroying ISIS in the Levant, when Obama's administration was afraid to. The one-term State legislator from suburban Chicago, who wrote this, knows no more about geopolitical politics, than he does about baking souffles.

Well this is just wonderful. I just love reading about how Hultgren and Roskam, the supposed conservatives in the IL GOP Congressional delegation, are all for the Constitution, small business, mom, apple pie and baseball. But do we ever hear them take a serious position on building the wall or banning H-1B visas for foreign workers? Don't hold your breath.

Actually, the French may have something here. While it's not untoward for employers to be able to contact their salaried employees during off-work hours, for critical business matters -- I once worked as an independent contractor for a Bensenville firm -- writing for them -- and they were monitoring all my on-line activities and trying to goad on more and more work -- with continuous oversight. That's a clear violation of IL law. Independent contractors can be expected to produce product, within timetables, but not to be overseen on-line. It violates so many labor laws as to be laughable -and actionable. I dumped that Orwellian operation after a very few days. The French are probably right here.

Ah! But Catch-22. Rahm's "sanctuary city" for illegal aliens will likely not be able to qualify for federal law enforcement funds for the Chicago Police under the Trump administration, unless they abandon their sanctuary illegal alien protection policy! Good thing!

Obviously, this is the brain damage that has come from years of inhaling insecticides in the course of running his pest control business.

This cultural Catholic -- who doesn't give a whit as to what the novus ordo Church hierarchy says -- is 100% for Trump.

What complete gibberish! This astute political operative seems to have been unaware as to how JFK's TV appearance led to his victory over Nixon. How LBJ's atom bomb/little girl with daisies TV ad doomed Goldwater/how Ronald Reagan's "There he goes again" turned around the 1980 election against Jimmy Carter. Can we please have serious commentators on this site, rather than utopian Jamokes?

Oh, No -- absolutely not! I have worked precincts in that district since I was in Prep School in Wilmette and suggest that no solid conservative should hold their nose and vote for this guy. He is not supporting Trump -- his own party's nominee. So why should I vote for him? Dold backs open borders, H1-B visas that dispossess American workers and American students - in favor of cheap immigrant labor -- We can get plenty of Democrats to do that -- we certainly don't have to prostitute our votes for a traitor like this. Dold -- no bloody way!

There he goes again! A GOP establishment has-been yearning for the good old days of Gerald Ford and Henry Kissinger.

Congratulations to Ted Cruz on his intellectual honesty. Now maybe if the alleged "Republican" Bruce Rauner would endorse his party's nominee, then maybe Trump supporters will not boycott his choices for State legislative spots.

Did you notice how this article used the euphemistic term "undocumented workers" as opposed to the accurately descriptive term, "illegal aliens."? This really illustrates how entirely useless the so-called "conservative movement" not to mention the Republican party have become. They have acquiesced to the neo-Leninist mindset and verbiage which have perverted our free American discourse. When leftists were chipping away at freedoms - from smoking to free movement at airports - so-called conservatives were AWOL. Same as with anti-white "hate crime" laws to the current anti-white "critical race theorists" which predominate in our schools - from elementary to university level. Republicans and mainstream conservative movement types have led us down the river to destruction. Now it's time to turn to something else. In the short term, we'll have to bullet vote for Trump and boycott all down ticket Republicans. In the long term -- ????

Donald Trump is now a virtual certainty to lock up the GOP Presidential nomination. And that is a good thing for the milquetoast Illinois Republicans, because if the GOP establishment had succeeded in blocking Trump and thwarting the will of Republican voters, people like Peter Roskam and Randy Hultgren - and many other Republicans downticket - would likely have lost their seats - as Trump voters boycotted the GOP in droves.
