You post reminded me of the Bible passage about entertaining angels unaware. I always think of that whenever I am approached by a homeless person. If I have spare change I will give it, but in Old Town I have become somewhat hardened due to all the able bodied looking younger people who are constantly begging. Sigh. It is hard to know where to draw the line. If people ask for food, I will generally buy it, but if they are asking for money, I usually don't, unless it is a few dollars. It is interesting that my compassion is more demographic in nature, I had never really thought about it until now.
