@Marc I'm pretty pro Kate Smith, but as a friend of mine once point out, in another forty years, will we have three ladies singing "God Bless America?"

@Luke I was doing my best to be charitable to all parties involved

@WVU guys Real talent, just a matter of getting/keeping his head on straight. Maybe Huggins will be able to get through to him in a different environment. Tough to say. How he handles the year between might be able to tell you something before he ever hits the floor.

@AZTerror Westbrook was selected in the third round, 91st overall. Jarrett is the "highest drafted" philly guy since '59. At least according to Roob.. http://twitter.com/#!/RoobEagles/statuses/64165699190398976

@bt Forgot the "taken by the birds" part. Thanks for the catch. I was pretty pumped about the peterson possibilities last night myself. Unfortunately, this piece from Reuben Frank seems to squash our hopes: http://www.csnphilly.com/04/29/11/Sources-Despite-speculation-no-trade-set/landing_eagles_loud3r.html?blockID=513380&feedID=2229

@rw and @timm There are definite pros and cons here. I'm definitely pumped for him and will now be checking the local listings for the CBS game of the week. That said, I never want to be too nice to those in the infamous Jets/Mets crossover culture. And, while I like Rex for his entertainment value, he's rapidly approaching a point where he needs some guidance in learning to pick his spots. At some point, his overexposure lessens his own impact. What's cool for Wilkerson is that he actually grew up a Giants fan. So, he'll achieve a childhood dream of playing at (New) Meadowlands Stadium, just for the other team... Go Mo and come on Jaiquwan

Thanks for the kind words, Hone. And, unfortunately, Daniel Ochefu did verbally commit to Villanova over the weekend.

@Bitter, You're totally right. You guys really don't have that same mindset we do. And, fair or unfair, I think that actually makes us dislike you more. We wish you guys came at us harder.

Don't take it personally guys. It's all in good fun. Just some healthy Big 5 hate. I think it's a good thing. Plus, I really would be surprised if there was a whole lot of 'Nova support for any of other programs.

Yes, l_mill, that's correct, but good luck finding that t-shirt with "Argentine Basketball League" on it

And check out Klosterman's piece on Sampson hahaha

Yes, absolutely Ray Jackson. I was recommending an essay in Chuck Klosterman's "Eating the Dinosaur" on Ralph Sampson to someone the other day. Guess he was still subconsciously stuck in my brain. Thanks for the catch, guys.

@VGP He's got Temple. He had the Owls losing to Cornell last year. Hopefully, he's right again

@apricot I'm 1-1 as a live blog host. Loss: Temple football downed by Penn State in 2010. Win: Roy Halladay's NLDS no-hitter. I feel like we could weight that as batting average of like .750

Thanks Hone. Forgot the tournament doesn't re-seed. Good looking out. Info amended above.

Many a good choice above, but we're all getting a little abstract. Here's getting back to the basics: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VnG0JjzF7HY

@PhillyCuban No ankle problems for the big guy. Williams injured the fifth metatarsal on his right foot while working out in the Virgin Islands last Summer. He had surgery in September and was expected to miss two-three months. While rehabbing, however, he broke the fifth metatarsal on his left foot, again requiring surgery. I haven't heard anything about the school renewing his scholarship given his remaining year of eligibility. The whole thing might be a wash.

Not that I at all mind the "honor," but I wasn't aware Coyote fans really traveled that well. Plus, how often is Phoenix ever even in our building? The downside: people in Arizona vote without first-hand evidence, which is potentially crippling to our nation's democracy. The upside: people out West hear stories about us. Tee-hee.

@Brandon and all the ND fans on the board "I hate that we play such crappy teams." Look,I'm not one to invest a lot of emotional pride into my football team (for that sort of sentiment, you can read anything I do on TU basketball), but I have to disagree. Put Temple's "sucking" or "not sucking" aside for a second. Why should you ever be upset about playing crappy teams? This isn't basketball--there's no key RPI stat to lift you or bump you. Just look at the controversy over non-BCS conference schools like Boise and TCU beating up on weak conference schedules. If anything, you want a yearly cake walk to a bowl game. I know the university and NBC want to pull in big ratings, but scheduling "marquee games" week after week sets yourself up for failure. You guys should be calling the Boise Atheltic Department for advice on how to schedule 1-2 real games a year. Join a conference. Take some pressure off yourself. Stop relying on your past; the appeal to tradition is one of the worst logical fallacies in the book (just look at Michigan if you need a point on reference). Move on and do what's right for your program in the here and now. As for Temple, this is a dramatically improved program who just hijacked everything Florida except Urban Meyer and the mascot. Addazio seems, at least up front, like a highly motivated and intelligent recruiter. Obviously, I don't have a body of work for him at Temple just yet, but the guy is at least talking a good game. Bias aside, can you really say this won't be a competitive game 3-4 years from now? If you can, then lord help anyone on these boards trying to approach this rationally.
