2 month sabbatical
Yowza. Eek. Gasp. WHAT?! 2 months! Are you joking?! I have much to post about. So much so that I will have to break the posts up into month long accounts of whats going on. We are all good-Lizzie is a little joker and is running me raged (and turns 2! in 2 weeks....wwwhhhaattt?!?!?!). Until I get my act together...here is our little bathing beauty at the beach last week... Continue reading

Failing
For the past month I have had "blog" on my to-do list. Everyday I see it, and I think "Hmmm...I need to be writing down some of Lizzie's life" and then something gets in the way. And then every time I see "Blog" on the to-do list again anxiety creeps up and I think.."I AM PAYING FOR THIS DAMN SITE WHY AM I NOT USING IT?!?!" Mommies can't win for loosing can they? A brief re-cap...Easter was great. My parents came in and Lizzie was spoiled to death. I kept thinking that the next child or grandchild doesn't have a... Continue reading

Re-write
I have come up with a zillion different posts for the past couple of weeks for the blog. Until lately, I had felt pretty down in the dumps about life-not ours necessarily, but people I know or don't know. I have known several women struggling with fertility or adoption that have not gotten the news they deserve and I have a close friend who lost her sister in a tragic car accident 2 weeks ago. All very sad things. I also faced my dim and distant friend-"the jealous fertility monster" recently. I found myself getting pretty jealous over the second... Continue reading

Happy (day after) Valentine's Day! We all had a great day. Lizzie spent the night with her Grandma, as Michael & I enjoyed a wonderful dinner here. It is funny-every time we go out to eat at a nice restaurant, we inevitably order fish for me and some sort of steak for Michael. Old habits are hard to break. Michael promises me a choice of place to eat for both Valentines & my birthday, and I like to try out new places all over Nashville. I am not a fan of chain restaurants, so I like to try local spots.... Continue reading

Ready, Set...Rat Race
Hello friends. I have missed you. This cathartic space is so refreshing for me, and yet somehow I continue to neglect it. I have thought of blog posts every day for the past month, but something has continually come up...and then I forget to post...etc. etc. Let me briefly re-cap the past month for you (or for me? I need jot all this down!): * We had our first ER visit with Lizzie. She had a vicious cold/RSV combo that turned into some serious bronchitis & "respiratory distress" (doc's words...talk about sending me into panic). We only were there for... Continue reading

oh girl!! you just gave me a good idea for Valentine's Day! (I am Raven's friend, BTW).
October 27th
Ella and I made these easy marshmallow pops today in preparation for her little Halloween party tomorrow afternoon. Although for the record, I have chosen to call it a "Halloween playdate" in order to lessen the expectations and stress on myself. This strategy has actually proven to be surpris...
Blah blah blah
I couldn't think of an interesting title....so this is what I came up with. Creative is my middle name! Kimmie is motivating me to post more, since she is doing the same, and frankly it is the boring stuff that we forget to blog about that we will one day want to remember. I am always torn on whether to blog about something monumental in my life or the little mundane things. But some bloggers little mundane lives are so interesting to read, that maybe I should right about the small things going on here in Atnipville. Or maybe I... Continue reading

Call the news...I actually completed a task! GASP! We had some "serious" snow (serious for the South, anyway) and it gave me time to pause and think "Maybe instead of watching the Food Network and putting Lizzie in time-out, I should organize this damn pantry!". So voila. I did. And I can't believe it. I was pretty nervous because I have zero to no ability to spatially conceptualize anything, but I emptied everything out, threw out some 3 year old graham cracker crumbs, and then started to put things back in the pantry in a neat & organized order. Wahoo!... Continue reading

Real & Simple
This post should be called.....ffffrrrreeeeeezzzinnnnggg. We are at a balmy 22 degrees here today. My skin is cracking, my lips are peeling, my scalp is flaking, my car doesn't like to start up when it is 10 degrees outside...aaahhh...January. Not my favorite month of the year, but at least we have snow in the forecast. That usually makes the brutal weather seem prettier. So here we all are in a new year, a new decade actually. Our NYE wasn't too wild & crazy. Kim, Jason & Kennedy, LeeAnn & her sig. oth. came over and we made pizza's and watched... Continue reading

As 2009 draws to a close...
I hope everyone had a fun holidays. Having Lizzie actually participate in Christmas this year was a real treat. She was a little overwhelmed at first by the deluge of gifts (a toy store has literally thrown up in our playroom) but then realized that there was some new things to play with and she was....oofff! She is pretty hilarious with her kitchen, she stirs things up and then and gives me some taste testers while saying "MMMMMMMmmmmm". Hilarious. We celebrated Christmas Eve night with dinner at my mother-in-laws. This is a tradition that has been going on for nearly... Continue reading

Welcome Christmas
I just finished watching How the Grinch stole Christmas, and I have to say...we all have a little Grinch in us. I witnessed it today. I made the colossal mistake of going to both Kroger's & Target today and to see how CRAZED people look two days before Christmas is frightening (I, luckily, was just picking up a few odds & ends, but-WOAH, the other folks...insanity!). But needless to say, I love that movie. I am cuddled up on the couch, with my kitty & computer singing the Who songs. AH...life is good. Our annual Christmas throw-down party was a... 11 Pipers Piping
Raise your hand if you love the John Denver & Muppets Christmas record? It is one of my all-time-favs. It totally gets my spirits up. I need to make a list of all my favorite Christmas songs-I am pretty picky when it comes to Holiday moo-zac. I am curious how many of you are completely done shopping? I thought I was...but then forgot that I have various stockings to stuff (I am doing, including myself, 5 stockings this year). And here I thought I was ahead of the game-whatever! I really should do this Christmas shopping thing through out the... Continue reading

Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat...
MUST-STEP-AWAY-FROM-THE-HOLIDAY-COOKIES-IN-THE-WORK-KITCHEN! HELP ME!!! This time of year brings out the very worst in my eating habits; almost to the point of a sitcom. I even ordered a full fatty Starbucks drink this weekend...WHO AM I? Luckily I have been eating "good" (I use this term loosely) during the week and working out, but GOOD LORD the temptations consume me. This weekend I made 3 dozen peanut chip/chocolate chip cookies, chilli, and a pot roast. My no meat eating during the week makes me SPLURGE during the weekends and it is ridiculous. Oh well. This goose is fat & happy. I... Continue reading

Lizzie LOVES those books-or as we call them the "lift and say no" books. She learned to say no b/c of them! ha! Great post!
december 1st.
how is it december 1st? regardless, we officially started a new tradition in our family tonight inspired by my friend, melissa deakin. melissa is one of those "online friends" that i've never met but through scrapbooking we've met and stayed in touch via e-mail and blogs. melissa's family h...
Not so stuffed
Happy Belated Thanksgiving! I hope everyone had a great holiday! Ours was...nice...and um...interesting. Nothing says Thanksgiving like a stomach bug! Whew. Glad it has passed through all of us & that everyone (and I mean EVERYONE including my sweet grandmother) is on the mend. Those day care germs are relentless. My sister in law and I did our annual Black Friday shopping. We went Thursday night to Sevierville. I got some wickedly awesome steals at both Gap & J-Crew with a coupon they gave out for an additional 50% off. Shopping at midnight is very interesting and the folks that... Continue reading
