DJ Chall, I'm looking at you! Ok... so you start the game by picking an artist (band or singer). Then everyone writes down ten artists they think will come up when you listen to that artist's station on Pandora. Then, you listen to ten songs on Pandora. The person with the most hits wins that round and picks the next artist. I'm thinking of calling it "Pandorette", but I'm open to ideas. Continue »

Ahhh The first blog is always the hardest ...or so I've heard. I can promise two things to those who choose to follow; #1. This will be a brain dumping area for any and everything... from personal to professional and from here to space. #2. Standard grammar and punctuation will sometimes be neglected! How else will you really see what goes on in a Martian's head... hmmm? If you're not afraid to bend the traditional rules of sentence structure and punctuation a little..then you'll fit right in! I'll show you how to "Be a Martian" and blend in with the... Continue »

Well, here I am posting to this new TypePad blog, which has some very nice features. However, I have spent a lot of time cultivating my web identity on the collection of blogs that I have gathered here:http://www.personal.psu.edu/cpl2/blogs/TheLongRoad/ So, I am loath to think about moving even if this site does add a nice social dimension to things and it makes posting quite simple. My issue, however, is that I don't want my web identity to become too fractured and I am working to cultivate a community around my work on the Long Road... Continue »

I was pleasantly surprised when I realized that the new features included with TypePad Micro (Six Apart's free microblogging-focused version of TypePad) worked seamlessly with my TypePad Pro blog. What I wasn't as happy about was the way that my Micro posts got a bit lost in the front page of my blog. I run a customized theme here on Ye Olde monkinetic weblog, using TypePad's Advanced Templates feature. This feature let's those of us with the chops (like Six Apart's Services team - plug plug plug) create our own custom templates and themes. So back to Micro posts: these... Continue »

via www.youtube.com Interesting video, made over 18 months ago talking about University of Southern California's adoption of Google Apps. At the 1:20 mark she says that her motivation wasn't cost savings or outsourcing e-mail, those were just by-products. Cole said something along those lines during his CIC Clouds on the Horizon presentation about Google Apps on Tuesday. Continue »
