Cathy, In my stencil design I chose to use circles instead of heart shapes. That way the stencil is more versatile. The note I made is for anyone who wishes to use the heart shapes like the sample, there is a stencil available by The Crafter's Workshop item numbered TCW 181. My stencil allows the user to choose to use a photo, die-cut, drawing or any item for each focal point. Another way to use hearts (besides the heart stencil) is to cut some out in the approximate sizes of the focal points. I hope this helps. :) -h
