40 days ago - on January 12th, 2010 - a magnitude 7 earthquake struck Haiti just before 5pm. The epicenter was only 25km from the capital city of Port-au-Prince. An estimated 3 million Haitians were affected - including more than 200,000 deaths, and over 1 million left homeless. Read more about the earthquake on wikipedia. The Pogue Fado was rockin' on January 30th for Haligonia 4 Haiti - a benefit show and live webathon that raised over $6500 for Oxfam. Some of the region's most talented bands, musicians and artists came out to lend their support, entertain and educate the crowd at the Pogue, and the audience online. The entire 6.5 hour show was broadcast live on the web by Haligonia.ca. Four weeks ago, Classified shot the video for his new single "Oh Canada" in downtown Halifax. Granville Street was a sea of red as fans mingled with Classified and DJ IV, who hosted the videos below for Haligonia.ca. On January 30th, 2010 - volunteers, musicians, artists, family and friends - came to together for Haligonia 4 Haiti, an Oxfam benefit show and live webathon at the Pogue Fado in Halifax. $6500 was raised for Oxfam Canada to help in their relief efforts in Haiti, and the entire show (6.5 hours) was streamed live to the web by Haligonia.ca. The event featured an amazing line-up of 18 bands, musicians and artists, including Remedy, Sons of Maxwell, Three Sheet, Mike Trask, Samba Nova, and Mary Stewart. Two years ago tomorrow, the Flickr Calendr 2007 went online, cataloging a year of Flickr photography. The slideshow featured 365 Flickr photographers, and a different picture taken on each day of the year.
