I really enjoyed this, Bill. I wrote for Flyers Magazine right out of college in the mid-'80s, and was fortunate enough to follow the Kiddie Corps all the way to the Stanley Cup finals in 1985. I also rode in Pelle's Porsche a couple of nights before his untimely death in '86 — a memory I shall cherish until the day I die.
Your rundown on the current procedures for the working press really takes me back. I recall always making sure to pick a seat near Gene Hart for the pre-game buffet. Nothing like listening to Gene spin yarns of hockey glories past while wolfing down your roast beef.
