stampede -- I don't need an excuse to go to Mama Greeks. Though a nice playoff run by the Spongers would be quite delicious and fattening. Way too many games to list, but Lakewood's first 3 will be interesting (don't sleep on St. Pete this year), the games between Cside-Tarpon-Largo will be outstanding. Land O'Lakes at Pasco another good. Gators should be 4-1 for that one. Freedom-Wharton. TBT at Alonso. Hillsborough at TBT. Jefferson at Lakewood. All good games not involving the Big Two. I could go on and on... Oh, yeah, and Carrollwood Day-Cambridge. *Cough*

mjraimo13 -- I do think, overall, Pasco will be as good as last year. But missing Josh Johnson (Purdue) is huge. They have a good receiving corps and always find RBs out there, but Johnson was the x-factor guy, who could do it all and break one at any time. His versatility and explosiveness cannot be replicated and will be sorely missed. But QB D.J. Clower is better, WR Chaise Dunn is better, WR Mitch Wozniak is a nice addition and ATH Jacob Guy (transfer from Zephyrhills) is the real deal from what I am hearing, so they'll score alot of points. They could open 0-2 (they play American Heritage and South Sumter, two serious football programs that are a combined 36-4 the past two seasons) but they'll still win a district title and at least a playoff game. I like 'em to go even a little further than that. tampaforever -- We're still thinking about it. Stampede -- I think the Bulls will be better, but not within smelling distance of the playoffs, if that's what you're asking. First first-year program to get a win? Well, umm, zzzzzzzzz. Come on Stampede, it's first-year football. And River Ridge still has a long ways to go. And I think Golden is actually with his fourth team, if you wanna get technical. He's gone Tarpon-Ridgewood-Gulf-Tarpon.

Csmack -- shhhhh...don't get Tarpon and Lakewood might take your excitement as a slap in the face. Rumor has it Corey Moore has already cut and printed your comment for the Lakewood bulletin board. Wellswood -- Someday. Like I wrote, Countryside, Largo and Lakewood coaching staffs get it. I think within 5 years. Maybe 6. (You may now begin laughing and crafting your scathing rebuttal). falcon fan -- Ummmm, okay. (rolls eyes). Hey, Dunedin always gets great athletes. We'll see how they do in the trenches, though.

Purple Rain was just a warm-up. Prince really flexed his acting chops in Under the Cherry Moon. Simply outstanding acting that showed his depth and range. Now...where is that sarcasm font button?

Dixon, That a 4 p.m. game? If it is, you guys have a shot. Otherwise, that first week has some hellagood nighttime games.

Hey Critic -- it's me and Joey Knight. Though we hope to get Niebuhr involved in a new video project this fall. Hey JoeBobBuck -- thanks man. Wow. I'm blushing. Heck, we're all blushing! That was terrific....what?....wait, he was being sarcastic? Really? I didn't read it that way at all! Hey NCT9 -- There is a fine line between covering somethinhg (transfers) and glorifying it. We try not to step over it, but the transfer thing was a big deal. Agree with you on the stats. I think we'll be better there as well. John -- Unfortunately, covering everything means covering EVERYTHING, and some of its good, and some of its bad. I think most of what we cover is generally good and positive, but hey, if a star kid gets arrested, we can't ignore that. As for Plant coverage, I think you have the wrong paper, but we're always cognizant of making sure we try to get to ALL 75 or so schools in our area. We'll continue to do our best to do so. Shoot, I hear Joey Knight might be taking his Friday Night Rewind crew out to Carrollwood Day v. Cambridge in Week 1. Yeah...you heard me.

But HSCoach, if the game was opened up to everyone, it wouldn't have been any better. It would have been worse. You can throw Turgeon and Layner on the Pinellas team, but that means you have to throw in Thomas Dorminy, Tyler Ding, Drew Doty, Mike Danner, Zach Powers...oh the list just goes on and on.

Lucifer, off the top of my head, Pinellas County's Ryan Weber missed the game. So did Jamie Mallard. Something about last second major league tryouts. And that's about all the time I want to waste on that all-star game, but it's a good start if you want to do your own research. Wellswood, to answer your question, Seminole won a title in 2001, though why you want to discount A, 2A and 3A schools is odd. That eliminates Plant's title in 1987 from the conversation, as well as all of Tampa Catholic's. That leaves your silly best county ever argument with just Jesuit. Oh...now I get it. Anyway, it really doesn't matter to me which county is best in baseball. Some years it's Pinellas, others its Hillsborough. Who cares? Except you. It's old. It's stale. Moving on...

That's weak, Wellswood. Your team lost. Take it like a man. And come on dude, the All-Star game? Really? Do you know how many top players skipped that thing last year, on both sides? It was a joke. Coaches talked about not even doing it anymore. Congrats and all to the kids that played in it, and it's a shame so many skipped it, but you really have to find something better to hang your county hat on. I mean, say what you will, but Dunedin won a state title and 10-runned Hillsborough's best team in the state semifinals last year, and you're citing a watered down all-star game as a sign of your county's superiority? You're better than that, man! I'd stick with the three teams alive versus none argument, even if your team isn't one of those. It works. It makes sense. No question Hillsborough County baseball was better overall this year. Better teams, better hitting, better pitching. Would be nice to see a state title for a public school since it's been a 21 year drought for Hillsborough -- I say we get you and talk_ball to hold hands and walk across the Gandy in a unified show of support for Tampa Bay prep baseball, and you can quit the silly Hillsbrough v. Pinellas pettiness. I'll bring refreshments and liveblog it. You guys in?

Yes. Plant is on TV. Gaither and Armwood are close enough for everyone in our Hillsborough audience to go watch. I thought, you know what, I'll drive 2 hours to Charlotte and we'll try and bring people the game they probably can't/wouldn't go to, and then we'll have the other writers from the other games file updates right into the liveblog. We're kinda stupid like that, I guess. Fact is, all the games will be covered in the liveblog, so where we set up shop isn't really the important thing. But thanks for caring, Wellswood. Hope to see you there. (Now, where is that sarcasm font button?)

Wellswood, I'm not picking Dunedin to win Tuesday's game. Or Jesuit. Yet. And thank God I'm not as emotionally invested as you are in the result. Wow, dude, wow. I was merely suggesting you and the other commentor you were being your typically endearing self towards might wager one. And hey, if you wanna think Ray Delphey....sorry, I mean Ray-Ray...is the Alonso ace, and you've convinced yourself that you're right, more power to you. To use your own example, yeah, if James Shields got hurt and was finished for the season, I would consider Scott Kazmir the ace. And it really isn't the loss to Sarasota that has me thinking Jesuit will drop from the polls, it's eking out wins against Middleton and Leto and getting walloped in the final by a 10-1 score. We'll see.
