MELTING
It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold: when it is summer in the light, and winter in the shade. Charles Dickens Constant kindness can accomplish much. As the sun makes ice melt, kindness causes misunderstanding, mistrust, and hostility...
Nice revamp !! :) So glad to see you blogging again, just like Margie.

Pattern gold
Newlywed birds made for a sweet couple of friends who recently married. After a long hiatus, I'm back with a few blog design changes and that overdue pattern recommendation. Typepad are very slowly coming around to responsive themes. This one I'm using (still in beta) is the first I've found t...
Glad to see you here, I was kind of missing you in this space, I admitt. (Instagram "stole" so many bloggers) But you live your offline life fully & that's what matters.
I wish I could visit this show, and see these stunning pieces even closer. How gorgeous !

terrain
Dear blog sorry to have ignored you for so long didn't really plan this but i have been super busy with family, work and making since the new year i mean if you had to choose between playing in the snow or baking cookies with lilith and lachlan in your precious spare time or typing on a computer...
Oh those shades of brown, ocre, brick, green ...
You have shared the most beautiful photos of all these stunning places you've visited, and I wanted to thank you for that. I know how difficult it is to go back to "regular life", after an amazing trip. It was just the same after I came back from my visit to you. xoxoxo
røros part two
this is my very last post about my travels in norway i thought i would share a little more from røros because you will see it holds more attraction than just a visit to the blanket factory and looking at all the wonderful wooden doors it was a grey, rainy day but the town was colourful eno...
Hello my friend !
So glad to read you ! I know what you mean for the platform changing, that's why I moved, but it was more for visual aspect matters. My shop is not integrated within the site, I wish it was possible but it'd require me to leave Bigcartel & to accept Stripe as payment platform only & this I don't want.
I know it's summer but as far as I'm concerned, I've been feeling that blogs are more & more deserted. I have much much less visits & comments than in the past. But I must remind myself that I write in my blog as an archive for myself too.
xoxoxo

i made a medicine pouch
So the very first piece of leaf and berry dyed silk went into the making of a necklace. I was inspired by the aboriginal medicine bag. A little sac , usually leather that one would wear around ones neck to hold little objects that had special meaning or significance. They might also contain herb...
you are making me want to try so badly ! :) I love the brown wave pattern, so so beautiful ! And the maple leaf imprint too ! xoxox
gathering, wrapping, tying, dyeing and drying
I should have really titled this dyeing with materials found in my own backyard. I mentioned in an earlier post that I had some black walnut stew brewing out back and how I was so smitten with Eva's (tinctory) little leaf bundle that I had to make one of my own. I used some silk that had dyed v...

almost forgot the lichen dyes
Remember back when I showed you the lichen I gathered from a cottage in Muskoka. Well I fermented three of the different types and a polypore fungus in a mixture of one third ammonia to two thirds water for a few weeks, shaking and stirring multiple times daily, as oxygen is needed to release t...

my first encounter with indigo
The last dyeing class at the workroom in Toronto involved shibori techniques of stitching, wrapping, tying, folding and clamping and then dyeing in the magical indigo vat. It also involved preparing the vat which was quite magical and really intriguing for the chemist in me since it involved re...

when I read Ben's words next to your photos, it makes my heart sing. Your arts are meant for each other, which sounds so normal and so true, but which is actually exceptional. You two are so so good in your domains. xoxoxo
before they leave
There is a time year before the leaves have all but come and gone, the apples ripened to the core, the wind still sings her gentle song. Lightness of heart doth woe restore, as still the days are warm and long, nights darkness easier to adore, it's cold bites not, or bites n...

poppytalk autumn colors week : brown
I thought it would be hard to find brown in my environs since I think you can tell things are very colorful this time of year. So I put on my new brown cords, moccasins and only had to take a few steps off the porch to find the rich browns of the magnolia tree leaves. Then there were some brown ...
you Canadian girls grow the most vibrant reds ! You know I love this color very much, and I loved each & every of your photos today ! Thinking about you oxoxo hugs
poppytalk autumn colors week : red
To find red I need only step outside my front door and onto the porch this morning. Thank goodness for that because it being my long work day, I wouldn't have very much time to seek out reds. Most of these pictures were taken today and I then added a few over the past few weeks towards the end. ...

poppytalk autumn colors week : green
Okay I know it isn't monday yet but I am so busy this week that if I don't attempt to post these pictures the night before it just won't get done. I spent the day in south western ontario enjoying the great outdoors and looking for fossils. It was tricky with leaves on top of the stones but we w...
with these comfy & soft felt grey shoes & this fab golden corduroy trouser, you totally blend in the forest ! For only 19 dollars, I'd have more than two in my wardrobe !!!
xoxo hugs
shoe gazing october style
I love how as you wander through different parts of the forest the ground art changes in color, pattern and texture. These felt shoes are so quiet upon the leaves and they allowed me to get up very close to the swan yesterday. A gift from my sister, Helen, many years ago. I love these go...
you were meant to go back to this forest. You could see the swan even closer & have the priviledge to see that color-exploding local nature ! Have a wonderful weekend my friend ! oxoxo
steps retraced
Returned to the forest today after work and errands were done. I retraced my path of yesterday and managed to actually not loose the pictures this time. Here are a few of them. Happy gathering to all of you this weekend. xo m
agh, I'm so sorry my friend, I don't know what happen ... the mysteries of technology are so dark to humans sometimes. The photos you're sharing here clearly show that it was a fantastic place, filled with such vibrant colors, and a wonderful fauna. Thank you for sharing them, I enjoyed them all.

Lost photographs of a very long walk in the forest today. Lost somewhere between the process of loading them on to my computer and fetching my daughter at work this evening. I arrived home and they had disappeared. They were no longer on my SD card , camera or in iphoto. It is a mystery and the...
