Your photos almost make me want to experience a sunrise.....but then again, I can just enjoy yours :)
Sunrise on Four Mile Beach
Sunrises are not something that I know much about, especially when I'm on vacation. This past weekend, however, I managed to witness no fewer than three of them, thanks in part to the end of daylight savings the previous weekend and this year's school schedule. It took me all of February and M...
Christie - your pictures always stir such emotion within me. The rose, the bumble bee...but the best is the sheer delight of joy on your daughter's face. So precious!
A Rose, a Bee and a Birthday Girl
Yesterday I stole a few minutes from a day filled with mundane household chores to spend in the garden with my camera. Today we marked the final celebration of Sophie's birthday with a party for a few of her friends. I hope you enjoy the photos from both days.
Congrats to both you and Jillian!!!! Looks like you two beautiful women did a wonderful job. Love the mandarin center pieces. So pretty. The food all looked delicious! Looked like everyone had a great time. Real beaut!!!!
An American Thanksgiving in Melbourne
Twelve months ago, I never would have dreamed that I would be serving Thanksgiving dinner to 73 people in November 2011. Had you asked, I would have responded that it was impossible. That is exactly what happened this past Sunday night, however, and somehow the whole event came off without one...
Please tell Cameron I'm highly impressed! It's a very good assessment of Australia - short and sweet! This is a land of much diversity and extremes....and much beauty, if you stop to actually see it. Nicely accompanied by your photos too.
Cameron's Australian Poem
One year ago if I had asked Cameron to sit down and write a poem about Australia, he would have declared himself incapable. Last month, however, he complied with this particular school assignment in a matter of minutes, despite a few initial moans and groans. I have illustrated his poem with ...
Oh Christie,LOVE the photo of James w/ his buddy. What joy on those little guy's faces. Great to hear the updates of things you are loving. Glad you are having fun. I'm w/Gillian, miss you heaps & will be ready to welcome you back down here.
What I'm Loving Right Now
In no particular order . . . **Driving my father's SUV on wide open roads, and then parking it wherever I like without having to (a) decipher complicated parking signs, (b) back up and straighten multiple times, or worse yet, (c) parallel park. **Driving on the right side of the road **Paying a...
Oh Christie, This is so precious! My eyes are tearing up at the comment of how much James LOVES his Daddy followed by that terrific photo of Ross holding James. Well captured and well captioned. I could see and feel the love. The photo of you at the end is very precious too. A pretty lady in a pretty picture.
Lunch with Daddy in the City
Today we accomplished something we have discussed for weeks, if not months, namely meeting up with Ross for lunch on a weekday. The happy little boy that accompanied me into the city whispered conspiratorially on the train that he would be careful not to say anything about it to his sisters. T...
Christie, Please don't let Katie's comments on your leaf photos discourage you. Those leaves stirred such a deep emotion within my heart. I wanted them to by MY photos, my leaves, hanging somewhere in my home. I think I'm going to add you to my list of "favorite photographers". I suspect Katie will come round as she matures and may find herself taking leaf photos - thus becoming like her mother - the thing we all do at some point, whether we like it or not. :)
Three Cheers (or More) for Primary Colors in Nature
I have always been a fan of primary colors and have dressed my children in them for as long as they would permit me to do so. These days even James prefers to choose his own clothing, and it would appear that he has picked up on Melbourne's predilection for black, black, and more black, with pe...
Ok, I want it on the next pizza run. Now that's the kind of places I've been longing to find. We'll have to do it w/o kids due to Jaden's allergies - but I'm not against finding a sitter and joining you and Ross for a date on the roof of a total dive. Let's do it!!!
Gourmet Pizza on the Roof
Today's adventure took us into Fitzroy, an inner suburb of Melbourne, to a restaurant called Bimbo Deluxe. The word deluxe in the title most certainly does not describe the building itself, but the pizza was fantastic, quite possibly the best food I have eaten down under that involved the chil...
Wow, I love the way you write and I love looking at Australia through your camera lens. You have a gift for capturing the moment and describing it so well.
I've also enjoyed being privileged to get to know you & your family in this Down Under adventure.
Back to the Beach
Ross came home with the encouraging news last night that we are in the middle of the rainiest winter in Melbourne in twenty years. We therefore thought we had better take advantage of the sunshine today and head back to Brighton Beach. My children are of the opinion that I should not do anothe...
