Suppose, we are considering two wrestlers. One wins by dirty tricks unnoticed by most of the audience. He has not won fair and square. Should the one who lost congratulate the winner? It hardly seems like the appropriate thing to do. Perhaps silence on the matter by the one defeated is the best way to protest a dirty tricks campaign, or, at the least, a poorly executed campaign.
In 1992 when Mitt Romney had a choice between voting for George H. Bush or a liberal, Paul Tsongas, he voted for the liberal. However in the last debate he said he always voted for a Republican when given a choice, that he voted for a liberal if given no alternative. He didn't do this in the 1992 primary.
