I recently stitched up my unicorn pattern in purples and pinks and had quite a few requests for the colour palette. I was trying out some of the lovely etoile threads from DMC. They have a subtle glittery effect but are so much easier to stitch with than either the... Continue reading

I think I have spent a large part of this summer trying to keep kits in stock. In between the sea swimming and dog walking of course! I have discovered that I love screen printing, I didn't expect it to be fun but it is so I'm thinking of creating... Continue reading

Thank you Kay, I can totally understand that! Some people love the tracing and for others it's definitely more of a chore. x

It's been a while since I was last here but I have been working on a pink version of the mermaid pattern in order to create a kit so I thought I would add the colour guide here for anyone who has bought the mermaid pattern in the past and... Continue reading

It has been such a long time since I last wrote here, an unexpected break. At first it was caused by getting caught up in Christmas busyness and then a long slow start to 2019. Last year, when I shared a picture of my little pincushion I had quite a... Continue reading

Hi Alice, I'm sorry, I did reply to this but my reply seems to have disappeared! You can either applique the hat or embroider it. It is just a choice, whichever you prefer. I hope this makes it clear Kate

Autumn has been here for a little while, in fact we are heading towards winter although it still feels mild. Last week the sun shone and the sea looked swimmable, I couldn't quite bring myself to get in but J braved it and enjoyed it. Now I'm enjoying drinking oat... Continue reading

I would like to say I'm sorry I've been away because I've been so busy but the truth is we have had a long long dry summer with warm weather and we are lucky enough to live in Cornwall. Usually August is wet and I get lots of work done... Continue reading

My sketchbooks tend to be filled with drawings of flowers and my camera is filled with photographs of flowers at this time of year so it's no surprise that my stitch play has been just a little inspired by flowers too. These woven roses are some of the simplest and... Continue reading

thank you Catherine, I'm so pleased that you like the design :)x
thank you Kay, I'm so glad you like the colour choices, choosing colours is one of my favourite parts of embroidery. x
I've been busy over the last few weeks with a lot of admin type work and testing out printed panels but in between all of that I have been doing a little bit of sketching and this little pattern came out of it all. Butterfly girls is two embroidery patterns... Continue reading

This weekend was my middle 6ft3 'child's' 21st birthday. I only have one left under 18 and not for very much longer! We hired a car (we don't have a car, we love walking, trains and bikes usually) and took local trips that we can't always do. Saturday was spent... Continue reading

that is really useful Maggie, thank you for sharing it, I've never seen that site before, I will check it out. It would be very handy to check colours online as my local DMC shop has sadly closed recently. x

It's taken me years to decide to have a system! My threads are wrapped around cards in a box but I that's more for the patterns. I like the idea of pulling colours out of a bag and seeing what you get, more fun. Thank you for the kind words about the designs. x

I have a terrible habit of absolutely loving a particular colour, coming to the end of it and then completely forgetting what it was. I probably should have been keeping a record of my colours before now but there we go! So this week I gradually started wrapping some of... Continue reading

Thank you Glenda, I have to admit I'm quite addicted to chain stitch at the moment, I think I would quite like chain stitch and french knot hair for myself! I agree about the macro shots, it's easy to forget that not everyone's stitches are the same and there are some parts of an embroidery where it might matter more. x
Toggle Commented May 2, 2018 on how long should my stitches be? at Lilipopo
The designs and colours are very beautiful! I agree it took a bit of to-ing and fro-ing for me to work the instructions out. I think everything is there but not always obvious. It took a while for me to work out the number of threads for everything. I'm glad you find my instructions simple :) x

A question I get asked quite a lot is how long my stitches are. The first time I was asked I took a ruler and measured, a fairly consistent 3mm. But this morning I was a little distracted while I was stitching this first draft of a princess and listening... Continue reading
