I'm in....can't wait to get started... For some of material!!
I just wanted to thank you Pat for having this blog, wanting to hear of everyone's memories, and allowing me and my husband to remember and share one of our best memories with you and the quilting group. This has just put the.... "Icing on the Cake"...for this year's 4th of July, 2015. Some 20 years later!!! I hope that this year's 4th of July was a special one, for all of you out there and all were able to make some special memories... And be with family and friends. Happy July 4th to EVERYONE ! πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έβœ¨πŸ’₯βœ¨πŸŽ‰πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸŽˆπŸŽ‰β˜€οΈ 🏊 🎢🎸🎢 πŸ‡πŸ‰πŸ—πŸ”πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸŒ½πŸ“πŸ°πŸΉπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ
I have to admit, the best 4 th of July I ever had, is equal to my husband's. One year we decided to have both sides of our families, my two sides and his two sides up at our home. We have a large yard so it would be easy to do. So we invited everybody; his families and mine. Each one asked what they could bring, and Hubby helped with the menu, so we told them and set up our list. Then 2 days before he and I got out side and set up horse shoe stakes in the pits we have and I set up the Croque' bars and hoops. Then came or volleyball net and the one table with a large umbrella, we had around our pool, for the kids, 9 total. We located all the pool toys, volleyball, horse shoes and croquet clubs and balls, amazingly everything was accounted for. Then we set up our bug tents together, to put the tables in for the food. Luckily we had plenty of chairs. I think he and I had just as good a time setting up everything, talking and excited about the bunch that was to come. The next day he helped me get groceries and fix all the little things, like pastor salad and deviled eggs and round up coolers and clean the grills. This was a very long day... Waiting for tomorrow...Then went to bed very tired and filled with excitement. The next day on the fourth family started arriving around 11:00. My oldest son 's wife is a marvelous cook, so she helped cook...we had potatoe salad, baked beans, fried chicken, BBQ pork chops, hamburgers and hotdogs, chili, Cole slaw and deviled eggs & condiments followed by all the trimmings. Two coolers full of drinks and desserts that everyone brought. Two cold watermelons and a host of family that filled my yard and home. Kids were running everywhere playing in the pool and with an assortment of toys. But my favorite part was my Father giving the blessing over the food, thanking GOD for food, family and fun, in a Country where we were free to be able to do all these wonderful things. Then me and Hubs had a moment to sit and chat, while we ate and looked out over our huge yard and watched everyone, eating, some playing, laughing, and doing an assortment of activities. The older adults sitting around talking and laughing at the little kids...in the pool. Some 29 people. No arguments, no accidents! Yea... The parents of the kids pitching horse shoes. Then the tournaments of horseshoes followed by one of the best volley ball games ever.... Even the Grand Parents for in on the game. Both of us talked later that night about how very blessed we were to have everyone around us. Happy, healthy and celebrating our families and the freedom we had in our country. The flag on its post flying on a beautiful blue sky, no rain... Life can't get much better. We had and were making some sweet sweet memories, surrounded by everyone we both loved.... GOD IS JUST SO GOOD!πŸ’šπŸ˜‡
Didn't know you were involved with Craftsy...that's great. I really enjoy Craftsy, have a lot going on with them. You have a great Sunday...Blessings to you and yours! I hope to sign up tomorrow for the class. In the mean time is a bunch of winks that are needed! 😴 πŸ’š HUGS PAT, TO YOU AND YOURS.
You said mittens, and my heart jumped, the story "Three little Kittens" have always been mine and my kids favorite story, because I had three children. They all were like me, gloves there hands and fingers got to cold, but mittens, their fingers stayed together, and not restricted, so their hands stayed warmer. So.... Every year, came our winter sorry, usually every time it snowed, and I would have to locate all our mittens, they were nice ones. One year we went sledding and all 3 kids lost their mittens... (We think taken) but, my Lil kiddens began to cry, ( they were all very young ) so I said don't worry it'll be all right, so my middle son said... Mom you didn't say it right, tipoff supposed to say.." My kittens dear, have no fear, for we shall find your mittens..." Joe my husband almost cracked up, he had to get out of car, for short walk. So I played the party, and we went into town to a store and bought new mittens. So I would have too make a banner with mittens hanging at my fireplace mantle, in the winter, that reminded Mr of the little hands that I got to grace in mine, and love so tenderly... A constant reminder... Then maybe a quilt for each with a pair of mittens on them. Love it!☺

I love my "The Sweet Life" Appliquè Quilt set, Pat. Your fabrics are terrific, and the over all design for me, is, so much in my taste... Although I'm not doing it as a quilt along, I love the fact that it is something that I want to take my time on... So I actually just sit back relax and work on it... Just to "Sweet" to have " The a sweet Life"... HUGS!!☺
