I remember the blue laws in Ohio kept most stores closed on Sunday. This weird thing called planning ahead was done then. One Sunday, when family was coming over, our cream went bad. My mom called Grandma, asking her to bring some with her. Otherwise, we were out of luck, unless we went to the overpriced convenient store.
Canadian Thanksgiving Hell: "Grocery stores have no business being closed for Thanksgiving!"
From GreenTigerEyes, Tales From Retail: So with the Thanksgiving holiday now upon us here in Canada, lately out in Customer Service we have been getting the usual calls about when our store hours are. Like most places up this way, our store will be closed for the holiday Monday which in turn...
We now have to keep all gift cards in our possession until the customer pays, the card is activated, and the receipt prints. It has cut down some of the theft.
Cashier Hell: Store gets robbed... Sort of
From RoyalYoshi Last week, I was working a double shift down at the local drug store. It had been about six hours in a row, and I was about to have my lunch break. Suddenly, this lady comes up to the register and gets one of those prepaid visas and says she wants 500$ on it. She doesn't app...

Now I put the sticker on and immediately score it with my pocket knife. It will shred if anyone tries that again.
Retail Hell Memories of Encountering a Price Switcher: "Oh, how strange!"
From Edselmonster, Tales From Retail: Thankfully I no longer work at this specific place, but when I did, I worked about 3 years so I dealt with a lot of dumb crap. I was an assistant manager at one of those stores that sold everything from groceries to clothes to medicine. So one night, I a...
