FLYING CREATURES
We joined the flying people at the Eugene Airport this year, so we've been in Florida for almost two weeks now. Our flight day was loooong .... and crowded. I wish I could say we had as much fun as these people in our airport's iconic photo montage panels. We didn't -- but we're here...
Each day brings surprises.
I have to work harder in order to attract positive ones.
I continue to run, run and run.

GIVING THANKS
Mid-November in Eugene The trees are a little barer, the leaves are a little browner .... but we still have some blue sky days .. and we still have some color. We have new surroundings and each day brings surprises. Last week, robins were everywhere we looked. Maybe they thin...
I always believe sky is a sheet of drawing paper, and it is painted with so many different versions of beautiful art piece.

LEFTOVERS --- AND MORE
We had two wonderful family Thanksgiving celebrations. (Not on the same day -- one was an early celebration to include family who wouldn't be here on the actual date). And I took no pictures at all . Because it is hard to eat and talk and enjoy the great company and still rememb...
The colours of sky are so beautiful.
This beautiful sky will follow you throughout your whole journey.

AND WE'RE OFF AGAIN
Santiam River We took a drive on Oregon's Over the Rivers and Through the Woods Scenic Byway one day last week. But it is Oregon and the rainy season is here -- so we only looked at all that scenery through the car window. But even on a rainy day, it is a beautiful drive. Here is a lin...
You are going to "migrate" again. :-)
A MAN A PLAN .... and time for another plan
Just one more picture from the beginning of our Winter-Spring Season in the sub-tropics: "A Man A Plan A Canal Panama." This is the planner on the deck of our stateroom as we began our crossing. He planned that anniversary-celebration cruise...just as he has planned all our travel adv...
Florida must be a very beautiful peninsula.
It must be as beautiful as Penang in Malaysia.
Go find a rabbit hole and you will be here.

SPRING -- IN FLORIDA and in OREGON
This is a morning sky shot taken from our back porch. It's beautiful and very quiet on the Canal now. Most snowbirds have left Florida for their summer homes. We are snowbirds too, but we usually come a little later and stay a little longer than most of our friends. In the sunshi...
Thank you.
I'm perfectly ok and must be perfectly ok to enjoy every beautiful parts of the world, especially going through the virtual holidays with you.
Only that, I find less motivation to write, to be visible nowadays.
I spend most of my free time running.
I have completed one marathon recently, I am going to have one 32km run in July, and to complete the year with another 42km in November.
I enjoy all these running, though already 57 years old.
Wanna join me?

EARTH DAY 2018 - CORKSCREW SANCTUARY
All pictures in this week's post are from our visit to the Audubon Corkscrew Sanctuary earlier this month. The dry season is just ending in Florida -- it is a good thing that there is this much water in the swamps. The words in the two mosaics below this are cropped portions of a...
I enjoy my virtual trip with you.
But when I thought I am seeing many river banks, I was fooled the other way around.
Have a happy weekend.

Gorgeous! During both the resting and eating time.
I do wonder whether our resting and eating time are as gorgeous as these.

PALM ISLAND FLORIDA by boat
I'm posting about a boat-trip again -- but this week closer to real time, in a (much) smaller boat, and (much) closer to home than the cruise ship trip I posted about last week (and earlier). We traveled to Cape Haze/Palm Island toward the end of February. This is Palm Island Mar...
That's good to have great fun.
And that's all we are looking for.

VISITING THE SWAMPS AND SLOUGHS
We've had company .... and we took them to the swamps and the sloughs. Whoever said we weren't great hosts? Our brother and sister-in-law are visiting from Spokane (the Eastern half of Washington State) where they left frigid temperatures and deep snow. So we've had a great time showi...
I have read a lot about Panama canal.
You have shared this once-in-a-lifetimes experience with me.
This is called reinforcement.

If you keep traveling, and I hope you will reach Malaysia.
Over here Alice will daydream with you all days long.
And rabbit holes searching is another fun thing to get explored.

PUNTARENAS, COSTA RICA
Puntarenas was the fourth stop on our Canal Cruise and it was the very next day after our on-shore day in Nicaragua. This was the first and only time on the cruise when we had two on-shore days in a row. When we started, I was afraid we'd get tired of the at-sea days, but instead we found ...
It would be such a surprise to find flamingos on board in a morning.
I wonder whether there is any rabbit holes in the sea....

TRAVELING, CLOSER TO HOME
Today's pictures are from two recent overnight trips... one by boat, one by car. We are fortunate to have so many interesting destinations near our winter home. I'm convinced that Southwest Florida is blessed with some of the most beautiful skies in the world. The abov...
You have beautiful outdoor views, same as me.
You are having a winter, but mine is a gloomy raining season.
Anyway, we are still enjoying in our wonderland.
Wonderland is always in our mind.

SAN JUAN DEL SUR, NICARAGUA
This week's update from the present, here at our winter home: The weather most of last week was lovely, but this weekend it is chilly again. (Not cold for the rest of the country, just chilly for part-time Floridians, who are admittedly a bit spoiled and not used to having to wear coats.) ...
These iguanas are beautiful.
So huge.
HUATULCO MEXICO
Update from home: We're starting our second month at the Florida Canal Cottage but I am still blogging about our trip to get here. Here in SW Florida we had lovely weather for both Holidays, but it turned quite cold on January 2 (cold for Florida, not for the rest of the country). You c...

CRYSTAL RIVER FLORIDA
It’s really true that we are at home in the Sunshine State for the season -- and I'm taking a break from posting about our sea-to-sea journey to get here in order to show some "natural Florida." These pictures were all taken on last week’s car excursion to the Crystal River area. It's...

A DAY IN PUERTO VALLARTA
(We're settling back in at the Florida 'Canal Cottage' in real life -- but still cruising here in blogland.) Every morning I tried to take a picture or two of what we saw from the ship. The buildings are the tourist resort town of Cabo San Lucas at the south end of the Baja Peninsu...
Oh, I rather be spoiled in this way.
Life is good.

HOME and HOW WE GOT HERE THIS YEAR
We have been at the Florida "Canal Cottage" for a week (since Sunday November 26) ..... and this year we came by boat: Actually it was a ship ... the picture above is the Ruby Princess, a sister to the one we took; it left the port at San Pedro (Los Angeles) about half an hour befo...
Happy travelling.
And meet many Alices on your way.
Do jump down rabbit holes if possible.
Don't hesitate.

SEASONS END
The summer/fall season always goes by way way too fast. And it is even shorter than usual this time, because we're leaving soon for a bit of an adventure on the way to our winter home in Florida. We love to travel, but I often wish we could be in two places at once, especial...

AUTUMN CATCH-ALL

WILD IN THE CITY
We're starting to get a little Autumn color here in Eugene -- even if part of it is reddish algae on the Delta Ponds. Delta Ponds is a 150-acre waterway, consisting of ponds, channels, and wetlands. The whole area is owned by the City of Eugene and is just downstream from the ar...
