I love the last video and its combination of song and visuals. It moved me deeply. Thank you for sharing!
Tunes for a Monday Morning
Above: "Teif on da Lum" by fiddler and composer Vicky Gray, from the Shetland Islands. The song appears on her debut EP, Atlaness (2021). The video is by Shetland film-maker JJ Jamieson. Below: "The Grey Selkie of Sule Skerry" (Child Ballad 113), a traditional song of the Orkney and Shetland...
The first time I encountered bluebells was while on a hike just a couple of years ago here in Indiana. I headed down a path from a bridge, and Virginia bluebells caught me by enchantment. Five decades into my life, and I finally felt their magic. They call to you.
Thank you for sharing about inspiration, taking the time to take care of yourself, and taking the time to listen, be still, and allow what lies within to surface. I am old, but I am still learning new tricks. Perhaps one day I will reach up and pick what has been waiting for me.
I had been feeling the pressure of the outside world with all of its valid concerns and urgency. How it crowds out my own inner voice. I have been reading the wealth of knowledge that is contained within your blog posts for a short time now. Thank you for sharing these insights and your personal experience. This post, your blog, and your work are beautiful.
On blogging (and spoons)
This post first appeared on Myth & Moor in 2011. It's re-posted today by request.... During a recent interview, my friend Rima Staines discussed the art of blogging: how she started, and why she started, at a time when personal blogs like hers (The Hermitage) were still new and unusual. "What ...
