I love, love, love Goodreads. It's great fun to browse through my "to-read" list, remember lots of wonderful books I would have forgotten about otherwise, then put one on reserve at the library. It's occasionally intimidating, because my to read list is so huge. Maybe someday I'll have a fancy enough phone to see the list when I'm actually at the library. Although I prefer a visit to the library to be an experience of serendipity. When I go looking for a particular book, I often leave disappointed, as my branch doesn't have it on the shelves and I end up putting it on reserve anyway.

I don't believe you can use the words "fabulous summer heat" together like that. There's no way summer heat can be fabulous -- and I'm melting too. It's very difficult to imagine Halloween right now!
I'm so glad to see another family who keeps their Christmas tree in the yard for months. We'll be burning ours soon, and I'll be sure to make s'mores when we do.

Looks like fun to me! My favorite carol is "The Holly and the Ivy" -- it has such a beautiful soprano melody. I can't sing it, but it's beautiful.

Your Emily (my daughter's name, by the way) looks just like our Ashes -- a wonderful, loving, patient, tolerant cat. Here's a picture of him, with my Emily: I am so sorry. I had to put my cat Mystic down five years ago this month, and it was the hardest decision I've ever had to make. I bawled for days and it chokes me up even now. I'm sorry for your pain, that you feel like a cat murderer. I know exactly what you mean. Emily had a good life, and received so much love... she'll be waiting for you, one of your forever cats.
