One taste of this collection and I know I need to read it - thank you for yet another wonderful find, and for reminding me of the power of taking legible notes...

I second the recommendation of Anonymous4 - their voices are so pure that they lift you out of the world. I just downloaded At the Source, and shall look for the biography of Hildegaard - as always, your blog inspires me to read more and listen more . Thank you!

We saw Dan Bern Saturday night at the Boulton Center -- I'm still on a high from the music and the wit and the sheer joy of being in the first row. After the show, I just had to tell him that singing "Deportee" was both brilliant and unfortunate: we never do learn, do we? Common Rotation was new to us (in person) - now I'm a junkie for them, too.

When I went to the V & A years ago, I spent hours in the textiles area, and I was caught (as you were by the shoe) by an embroidered corset. I don't know why it held me and sent me into such a reverie - (And now I see the biograpy of VW in your sidebar, and I have to read it...)

You're not the only one with a legal pad and fountain pen. Actually, WAY too many fountain pens, alas. Choosing the right one is a terrible distraction... I love this post!

Great quiz! I wish I wasn't too lazy to answer all the questions. (Good excuse, yes?)

I'm always fascinated by the tension between what a child perceives and what he needs to know to understand truth (as adults define it). The tension always reminds me of What Maisie Knew, one of the novels by James that I try to make everyone read. (Not much success, I fear!)

Yes, houses are like digestive systems that no amount of Pepto will fix! Our washer shakes so hard when it spins that sometimes I fear for my life! *we have to get some discussion going on your Rav group!*

I'm so eager to read about Emily - (pardon me for being so familiar with her - ) - how lucky you will be to read her first! Looking forward to your review.
