Thanks for the comment. Desperate for shade trees, I guess, south Texas planted Australian ones. Eucalyptus. Australian pines. There were some hackberries. I remember my grandmother had the trunks white-washed in the spring. Orange and grapefruit trees became ornamentals. Dac
I did like overhead transparencies! A notebook full of them and a nice little projector. I’d make xeroxes of the transparencies and pass them out when the class ended. When I taught at Riverside (1979) each student had a little tape recorder set up and facing me,. Dac

Will they continue all summer for you? Dac
Thanks, Chris. You should come back to the Wednesday writers. It’s going like a house afire. Don’t have a new bed but got some thin pillows and they’re working for me. I’ll look for Barnwood Builders. I know about those middle-of-the-night periods. Dac

Didnt see much snow - until I went to Lubbock (Texas Tech) with Larry. And then Lawrence, Kansas. And then East Tennessee. I have not had to lie on my back and put on tire chains, here in Georgia. Dac
Happy New Year, Wally. Lets make 2015 a spectacular one.. Dac
Restlessness. Not bad; that would fit Sam pretty well. For all of his life. Dac
Thank you, Celia. So good to hear than somebody still does that! Poor meteors this month because of the full moon. Enjoy anyway! Dac
Thanks, Marja. I just spent the first weekend in the new cabin. And got too many visitors! Dac

Thanks, Maggie, always good to hear from you. When are we gonna have another big show down there in Darien? Dac
Weve done porch and deck, and even (in the rain) garage. But the Freemans have such a nice kitchen - huge - we can sit in a circle very comfortably. Bud (my son-in-law) plays a mean bluegrass fiddle. Daughter Mary plays doghouse bass. Athens is full of guitar, mandolin, banjo players. Im the oldest in the group (by far) and can bring in some old-time songs on occasion (Mairzy Doats, W. C. Handy blues, etc.). Popcorn and beer, often homemade. Dac
Thanks, Caroline. Sometimes it appears that all of our choices are hard ones. Don't mention it, John.
Stop it already! Dac
Could be. Wilber Duncan (in Duncan and Foote - Wildflowers of the Southeastern US) just lists it as Viguera (page 212). Scientific name is Viguera porteri. Maybe you have Rudbeckias. Theyre in bloom right now. Black-eyed Susans. Dac
God to hear from you, Maggie. Hope to get down your way one of these days - find a book fair - sign a few and drink a few -- Dac
Our computer person in Ecology was Thelma. She, too, hoarded everything. When she passed last year, we were able to discard a bunch of boxes. Do you remember when you bought a computer or drive or something and the instructions said, retain the carton in case you need to return. Thelma kept all, and that includes programs on punch cards - even though we no longer had a reader. Dac
And you want this person for an editor?? Dac
