Actor, Avatar fan!
Interests: Acting! I'm training in bristol currently, auditioning for drama schools at the moment! i'm learning gaelic, and i'm a bit of a film buff! i loved AVATAR, and intend to also learn Na'vi- then surely i can be considered for a part in the sequels?! haha, that'd rock...

No, but we should be surprised. We shouldn't let this sort of thing be common practise! You're absolutely right, it is destroying society. Barontom, here's some info: http://killercoke.org/ http://www.greenpeace.org/international/news/mcamazon-060406 http://www.mcspotlight.org/ (A bit outdated, but a good place to start!) Also, although not directly linked by marketing to AVATAR, this: http://www.huntingdonlifesciences.com/ If you care about animals, you may be interested to know that these companies sponsor this animal-testing/vivisection company: Beechams Lucosade Ribena McCleans etc, AND MANY MORE! There's a starting point for you, you'll be able to follow links and find your own info from there. Please tell your friends. All these destructive, murderous companies have PR agents and hot-shot lawyers who will fabricate information about how environmentally conscious their company is, hide the real facts, and put out injuctions against anyone who speaks out. In closing, I recommend the documentary 'McLibel' to you, it's available on DVD, and shows how everyday people stood up against McDonalds, and won. Keep fighting.
Don't you think it's ironic that Coke are responible for the oppression of local workers and communities all over the world, starving indian villagers and assassinating columbian Unionists... And they're major sponsors of AVATAR? Merch deals with McDonalds when they... Continue reading

Here's something for ya- Don't you think it's ironic that Coke are responible for the oppression of local workers and communities all over the world, starving indian villagers and assassinating columbian Unionists... And they're major sponsors of AVATAR? Merch deals with McDonalds when they are responsible for cutting down vast swathes of rainforest- the closest we have to PANDORA here on Earth? Hypocritical at all?
Absolutely, it is disheartening when you're trying to invigorate people's revolutionary spirit and spread the word about oppressed peoples, and everyone just ignores you or distracts themselves from the truth. Believe me, I know. This is still primarily a group for fans of the film AVATAR, so it's entirely acceptable/understandable that some people just want to share screenshots and learn the language (I'm a little guilty of the latter, I must admit!), but it does seem an utter waste of time to be online so much and not at least try to bring a message to people. Perhaps a breakaway commmunity, more dedicated to showing people how to help the world, it's people and animals? What do you think? For the meantime, keep posting important info about your views/plans on here, as some people are bound to hear you, and preaching to the converted is reassuring, but ultimately pointless. I also recommend becoming politically active outside the internet (for all I know you already are!), organising demonstrations, printing informative hand-outs, direct action against organisations destroying the environment etc. Don't let the zeal this movie has given you be dampened by disappointment- create your own oppertunities! Your anger is a gift.
Haha, kind of ironic that Coke are responible for the oppression of local workers and communities all over the world, starving indian villagers and assassinating columbian Unionists... Hypocritical at all?

The Activist's Field Guide is incredible, can't recommend it enough! Seriously, you won't regret buying it!
So either you like the idea of killing innocents, or you have no free will? And the point is that the mercenaries/military were there by choice, so that's absolutely no sort of excuse!
Got it in one! EKO!
How has Avatar changed your life and your outlook? Well, it's made me spend far more of my time at the cinema and in this online community! But seriously, it has reminded me about where my (and all of our)... Continue reading

Ummm, Interesting idea man! However, I think the message of AVATAR is more- let's rediscover our Nature and our planet, rather than distort it to make them like someone's CGI dream! Ethical rammifications, and all that... (Also, Jurassic Park comes to mind...) Trees maybe, but not creatures! Still, fun idea!
She was a great character, but it would weaken the whole story to bring her back. It would also lessen the emotional impact of her death, and that of everyone else of died, as people would just be waiting for them to be brought back. Keep some realism! Tsu'tay was be the one I found saddest! Without adversity and loss, there is no drama- the beauty of the whole film would feel cheapened! (Unfortunate really, as you're right- she was great!)

Hmmm, well yes you're right, we shouldn't be at war, and we shouldn't be in those countries. But it's not as simple as them 'Not being able to handle their own countries!' The problem is the politicians/dictators/invading forces taking advantage of the people, not the people themselves! So yes, I think we shouldn't be in those countries... But if you want to live a different way- like the Na'vi, you need to care about other people, not just your people.

Taim go maith! An bhfuil Gaeilge agat? (Conas a dearfa sin as Na'vi?!) Haha, just read in the Empire review that it was what caused Quaritch's scars! No idea then?!
Calm, my Brother!
Also, since the strong electro-magnetic fields prevent large continents from forming, and techtonic movements are far more common/fast, there must be Na'vi on smaller islands- apparently there are huge floating beds of seaweed covering much of the oceans... Potential for an entirely new Na'vi culture?!
