Hi Lindsay - Spotlight, in Australia, actually. I haven't been on my blog in ages - but I know that a few Spotlight shops still have some yardage... I guess that only helps if you are in Australia.

Hi Diane - it sure is. It's a simple pattern, too. I've since made another one, and I carry it with me sometimes to the shops and the library.

Hi Amy. Thanks for the giveaway - these fabric really are very precious! Amber Australia
Thanks Cary!! It sure was fast-paced. I fell off at the baby books quilt and couldn't catch up. But it's nice to be revisiting the sew-along projects at my own pace. Still, I have whole house to pack and an interstate move to plan, so I don't think I'm going to finish up this year! Amber x
Thanks Laurie - how cute are bees?! (Button ones, not real ones, that is.)
Hi Mary, Thanks for your advice about the interfacing. I will try that next time - excellent suggestion. I was really disapointed in how the interfacing behaved in this project, but it's great to have a different approach to try next time! Amber x

A friend of mine is 20 weeks along, expecting a precious baby boy! So exciting! As the mother of a 13 month old baby boy, I can only think how wonderful!!! Baby boys are cuddly and sweet and yummy and precious and all things scrumptious! I am making my friend... Continue reading

Hi Wens - thank you so much! I hope it isn't too obvious when the quilt is made up, but I came very close to running out of fabric, so I had to be satisfied with being less fussy (pardon the pun) with some of the blocks towards the end. I will post some pics as soon as I have pieced the top. x

Hi Wens, Thanks so much for your comment and your insights. It's really good to hear input from people who have first hand knowledge of the situation. I hope there are always fabric shops in Australia to visit and that we don't have to resort to buying online as our only option. Amber x

I'm afraid that some weeks ago I fell by the wayside on Zakka Along 2.0 due to some personal challenges and the overwhelming pace of life. (Working mothers, let me hear you say "woah!") However, I am determined to make all of Ayumi's gorgeous patterns and so voila - the... Continue reading

Hi Jenny, Thanks for your comment. The MyExcel is a great machine! It's good to hear that you had success quilting on it, I will use that as inspiration to machine quilt my Posy quilt. Amber x

A few months ago, I asked, "Can a bathrobe be inspirational?" It turns out the answer is yes, because my favourite bathrobe (well, it's more a summer brunch coat, if I'm being honest) has inspired this Posy Quilt in progress: Here's a reminder of the fabric in my robe: When... Continue reading

Thank you Pratima. Home is the place where the soul feels at rest. I wish you all the peacefulness of home. Amber x
Hi Laura, thanks for your message. So that's a no for pumpkin scones in the UK! Good to know. The recipe was made popular by Lady Florence Bjelke-Petersen, the wife of a rather comtroversial chap, Sir Joh. They are delicious, and not at all pumpkiny, really. Here is a link to the recipe if you're keen- http://www.abc.net.au/queensland/stories/s1143809.htm Amber x PS. I hope your move home went well.
Yes, my friends from WA and I often talk about this. And WA is so beautiful - I have only visited Perth and Kalgoorlie so far - would love to see more!
Thank you, M. It will certainly be lovely. I am hoping we are all settled in before Christmas!

Last week I mentioned I had some News. News with a capital "N". I rather think my post headline has given the game away, but nonetheless I announce that I'm Going Home. We are moving back to Queensland. I grew up in Brisbane, in south-east Queensland. I moved to Melbourne... Continue reading

A friend has recently welcomed a precious new baby girl into the world, so I decided to whip up a pretty but practical present for the occasion - a pair of burpies! I needed only 1 fat quarter of my top fabric and about the same in terry towelling. I... Continue reading

Hi Ivy. Thanks for your lovely comment and your helpful suggestion. I have actually put the project aside for a few days and I whipped up a couple of "burpies" for a friend with a new baby girl. Just doing something different, even such a quick project, has helped me to refocus on my Posy project. And I am going to add in a couple of non-Posy prints - thanks for the suggestion!! Feeling re-inspired now. Amber x
Hi Pratima. Thank you so much for your very sweet note. It's nice to know I'm not the only one who sometimes feels a bit uncertain part way through a project! x Amber

When my parcel of Briar Rose fat quarters arrived last week, I started to feel stressed. Yes, stressed - by receiving beautiful fabric in the post. Or perhaps I just realised that I was already feeling stressed and the realisation that I would not get to work with these vibrant... Continue reading
